Zorin Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Different reflections on wood and metal surfaces are something to point out in 2013? That has been around since 10 years easily. Adjusted by a specular map. Oh and someone tell those truck drivers to use their wipers, they will see a lot more through their windshields that way. But I am generally pleased with the content seen so far. Ground models for the Germans are mostly carry over from CLOD, but that way they had more time to model all the soviet stuff, I hope. As their are plenty of references available on what types of vehicles fromed certain columns in the German Army I am hoping that those will all be included and that we can recreate those columns ourselves in the FMB and save them. CLOD did have that feature but fell short on the number of vehicles per column, which was unrealistically low.

But yes i hope many more types of ground units are produced over the future of the series. I like the suggestion of how many were in a column. Do you have any factual numbers of how many a standard column formation usually was? Im sure thats good info for the devs to have Edited July 28, 2013 by Hooves

71st_AH_Hooves Posted July 29, 2013 Author Posted July 29, 2013 Ok guys, last video, there is some cool info tidbits and some neat visuals here, I was having some trouble with my camera focusing so you'll notice some zooming in and out to try and fix that. (or maybe I was having trouble focusing, I was on drink #8 there LOL) Anyway ENJOY 1
royraiden Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 (edited) Very nice, specially the bailout animation and although I would have preferred a "struggling" bailout like in DCS,the reason Loft gave justifying the current one is more than understandable.Pilot animations are something that add SO much immersion to aircombat, its probably the only time you get to see your enemy.Hopefully though the a bailout to sliding through the wing could be implemented in the future, if not at least implementing the current bailout in first person view would be a nice improvement. Thanks for the videos again. LLv34_Flanker Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 S! Those vids convinced me Can't wait to get Premium!
Uufflakke Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 (edited) I think the presence of Hooves with his shaky camera recording the presentation of a pre-alpha flight sim in bad light conditions did more good to pre-sales than any slick professional unrealistic trailer could ever achieve. It must have pushed a lot of visitors to search for their creditcard! When they offer you a visit to Moscow they roll out the red carpet straight from the airport to their office. And 1 year of free Wodka! Edited July 30, 2013 by Uufflakke 1
DD_bongodriver Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Hooves and Mastiff's reports sold it for me.......and the 1CGS ushanka, I thought Mastiff looked a bit red and sweaty from wearing the hat but subsequently it sounds as if they might have been imbibing.

And 1 year of free Wodka! The cool part about doing those videos was that I had been invited in the first place lol. So I was kinda already paying back the favor. I can say it gives me a big smile to know my shaky camera helped convince some to come join the fun! Its not everyday one gets to contribute so much to a community they love. I'm just glad I charged that camera!
71st_AH_Hooves Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 Sorry should have put this B-roll clip in this channel
=BKHZ=Furbs Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Copied from the other thread... Cheers Hooves, one thing i notice is how smooth the flying is, when flying the "other" sim i never quite felt it was smooth and i was in full control when engaging a bandit, i always felt i was fighting the game engine with little stutters and bumps even though i was getting good FPS, do you know what i mean?
LuftManu Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Thanks for the video, looks good , the Combat looks like more fluid than in Clod, is that my impresion, thanks!

That was my impression as well from the event as well as recently when I was given a chance to play. However that last patch made the stutters in Cliffs go away significantly.
=BKHZ=Furbs Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 I'm not talking about graphic stutters, the last patch sorted that for me too, im talking about engine hic-ups in the aircraft control(at least that's what im calling it), maybe it was just me but i never felt i could deliver a tracking shot the way i wanted.
mazex Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 (edited) Really great videos Hooves - thanks for sharing them! The game looks a lot better than I thought actually, both from the inside and the outside of the cockpit. The winter landscape is by far the best I've seen in a flight simulator! So nice to know also that it is based of the RoF engine that actually works and only have been improved so we don't get any stuttering surprises a la CloD on the release When he zooms around like crazy in one of the videos it looks really smooth! Happy that I placed a premium pre-order so I can get my sweaty palms on it soon! Really looking forward to the future with this engine now! Edited August 2, 2013 by mazex 1
