I bought the C-47 in honour of a C-47 pilot I met at a Concert to honour our veterans

Six days ago I bought the C-47 and have been having fun with it.

I decided to get the C-47 after meeting an RAF pilot in November at a Concert to honour our veterans. He flew the C-47 over Italy in 1944 and then in Burma, logging 267 hours during the war. I shook his hand while thanking him for his service, told him I’m a pilot myself and about to get on with the airlines, the Italian Campaign is a very forgotten Theatre of WW2 and glad to have met someone who served there, and he autographed the back of my ticket.

This year, he did 103 laps to raise money for the children in Ukraine.

Every time I fly the C-47 I think of him and always will when he passes on.

I read about transport service in Burma. They flew in contaminated airspace with those unarmed crates. Fly past covered it in a magazine. What a brave bunch of pilots

Nice!

The C-47 model is *really* well done.

If the guy flew in 44 he had to be a minimum of 20 years old, but probably a bit older.  That makes him over 100, no way he's doing 103 laps for anything.  Color me skeptical but every single WWII vet I've ever known or know of is gone by now.

Being skeptical is one thing, being lazy is another. Before you shite in someone's thread maybe just take a minute next time to check. Just saying.

Well than, I was right about him having to be 100 years or older.  And laps wasn't mentioned as being walked or how far...........
