I've been puzzled by exactly what this file does and why it has the long number/digit entry at the end of each line.

Plus, I've noticed that a lot of mine have errors in their stated file path.

Can someone kindly explain this file for me?

List file is a list of files need for the mission, with their path, which is usefull for mutiplayer mission which download the mission.

Most of the time when you have an error in downloading a mission (in the game), it's a path which is wrong in the list file.

Be carefull, if you have a mission named X, and if you zip your mission to do something, at the same location. If you continue to work on the misssion without changing the name, the zip file will be add to the list file when you'll save the mission.

Thanks for the reply Habu.

I've noticed that some of these files are blank with nothing in them. Is there a way to re-save in the editor to correct these or do they have to be corrected manually?

1. In the Tools menu, choose Resave All Missions in a Folder.

2. Navigate to the folder containing your mission and click OK.

I have tried that already but it didn't work. I also tried deleting the list file and resaving all missions in folder and that didn't work either.

I'm kind of stumped.

I have tons of single player missions and it would be a daunting task to try to correct each one manually.

My other conundrum it seems is that I have an audio/media folder in more than one place in the game. There's an audio folder in the main game and an audio folder in the missions folder.

It's strange because the both methods are listed by you and Jim.

1- You can use the resave option.

2- You can delete the file, open the mission and save it again. You can try a save as with a new version.

May you join the mission for test please.

I haven't tried deleting the .msnbin file and resaving but here's a screenshot of one of tips recent uploads.

The language files are correct but the file directory for the .mp3 is wrong.

I haven't had a lot of time this weekend to mess with it.

Okay the reason you're having problems is because when created the correct .List file is this:

filename="missions/tips/01_section leader tip and run normandy.chs","3b586ceb"
filename="missions/tips/01_section leader tip and run normandy.eng","3e0d4ac3"
filename="missions/tips/01_section leader tip and run normandy.fra","4008e3c5"
filename="missions/tips/01_section leader tip and run normandy.ger","26be3e68"
filename="missions/tips/01_section leader tip and run normandy.pol","bab3afc1"
filename="missions/tips/01_section leader tip and run normandy.rus","97c6573f"
filename="missions/tips/01_section leader tip and run normandy.spa","eb5e2d9f"
filename="missions\tips\media\old sub sonar.mp3","d077af2e"

Within the Readme included for the Section Leader Tip and Run Normandy Download Zip:

01_Section Leader Tip and Run Normandy
A Random Works Mission
Updated to v5.02

To Install Missions for Single Play:
A) Extract zip folder "Data" to your C:\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad folder or wherever/however you have your pc set up to play BoX SP Missions.
Makes own folder "Tips" within single player missions to your Game.

Name of the Mission is:
01_Section Leader Tip and Run Normandy

Looks like instead of extracting the "Data" folder as directed above you only extracted the MISSION, MNSBIN, LIST and the 7 language files into a custom folder called:

filename="missions/the second world war mission pack/fw 190 a-6/

The Media MCU is looking for the old sonar.mp3 within "missions\tips\media\old sub sonar.mp3","d077af2e"

To change and play the mission within the custom folder you created.

1) Extract or copy paste the .mp3 directly into the Audio folder which is inside your games Data folder.

2) Go into the ME, open up the mission and direct the Translator: Media within its Media Operator advanced Properties to Browse and set the old sub sonar.mp3 which is in the Audio folder.

3) After the mission is saved it should now have the correct .LIST file for your custom Mission folder.

The .LIST File is the Mission MAP and directs your puter to correctly find and play the mission.

Thank you Tip!!

Yes! That's exactly what I did. But in my defense, I was trying to simplify my missions folder because I have over 200 SP missions all in their own aircraft folder. Every time I downloaded a mission I would find out what aircraft it was and copy paste to that aircraft's folder. It seems only a small fraction of missions come with added media files but since I didn't understand how it works, the media files got a bit scattered.

Thanks so much for the explanation of how it works! Now I can find and change the file path for those missions that have added media in the mission editor. ?

I'm glad I was smart enough to keep the media files with the mission inside my custom folder! So it will be just a matter of reassigning them in the mission editor.

  By the way,

Thanks for all your missions!

They are the very best out there!

And I've played quite a few.
