The AI skins for Panther and PZ 4 are better!

OK I know the subject of the beautiful user-made skins not making it into the official game is a little bit of a sore spot for everyone here.  But man, I just watched the "Year in Pictures" on YouTube and it's like having salt poured into the cut.  The PZIV and Panther cammo's on the AI tanks are actually better than the Official skins on the player vehicles.

WTF?

@ShampooActual

I've saved your comment so I can discuss it with the team when the holidays are over.

It may go nowhere, but lets see what happens.

The reason for that is that those are not the same tanks we have available to us in Tank Crew.

The new AI tanks are later models, being the Panther G and the Panzer IV H

The ones we use are the Panther D and Panzer IV G

Either way, I agree that we have a terrible selection of official skins for every single vehicle available for us to operate.

Also I have been meaning to post up and ask what the upgrades/differences are to the Panther G model and the Pnzr IV H model.  Did they come out with these newer models because the older ones were not in use by the time of Normandy anymore?

From what I was told by Regingrave, that is pretty much it. The Panther G's were to replace the old grey Pz IV Gs in the AI tank roaster for the generated missions on Normandy.

The Panzer IV G is the version, which is player drivable. The AI tanks of this particular version are not grey, you can see them in every scripted Panzer IV mission.

EDIT: You were talking about the early G models, which were originally F2s

The Panther G was an improvement compared to the early D version. Better commanders cupola, the ball aperture (?) for the radio operators machinegun, and I think it also had the gunsight with 2.5 and 5x magnification instead of the only 2.5x magnification gunsight our version had.

The Panzer IV H was more a simplyfication compared to the G. It was an attempt to spare rare material like rubber for the wheels.

But the older versions of both tanks were surely still in use, as they simply took, what they could get their hands on.

Thanks,

I'm familiar with the differences in all of the models involved.

The info below was direct from the QA engineer in response to my questions about the addition of the AI Panther G.

I just passed it on as the info was provided.

"Like other new AI tanks, for the existing maps it will be added wherever it will be historically plausible (on Normandy it will replace some obsolete Pz IVs that are still there), and it will be available in the editor as well."

"Sure, I guess it's not a big secret. Panther G will replace old grey Pz IV Gs in the AI tank roaster for the generated missions on Normandy."

@Wardog5711 Thanks for tracking this back with the Devs.  My question about cammo skins however seems to have gotten lost in a discussion about models, types, theaters etc etc.

All I want to know is, if dunklegrun and rot-brun were used at the time of Kursk (which they were), why can we not get our Official Skins "re-painted" to match what we know is already possible through the AI models available today?    How hard can it be to give the Panther's and Mark IV's the same paint jobs?

Thanks Wardog.

Yes,

We are on the same page with the skins.  ?

I have that question flagged for discussion when everyone is back from holiday.
