Checking 5.003 version before updating error.

I tried to run my installed 5.003 version with IL2.exe from the bin folder, just to check it before updating

It would not start either offline or online, complaining about a new version to be installed first. I did not run the launcher BTW.

Is that normal? I think with older versions that worked?
