  1. 1. Should the overall high scores tab display high scores achieved over the previous 12 month period on a rolling basis?

Overview:  From time to time players have asked that the Overall high scores be reset as they reflect scores achieved under a scoring system that has not been used for a few years that used much higher values and therefore can't ever be beaten.

The current scores can be seen on the parser "Overall" tab here: http://stats.jasta5.org:8000/en/overall/

The Overall tab displays the all time high scoring virtual life for a player during a tour.  This is how multiple entries for the same player occur.  Notice that the scores currently reflected are out of reach because they were achieved during a short period when the parser was new and under a default scoring system that was abandoned in 2021 for a more intentional and simpler scoring system that is currently in use and that distinguishes between player v AI and player v player.  See related link below for more details.

Proposal:  change parser to display the high scores achieved on a 12-month rolling basis on the Overall tab.

Rationale:
1. Currently displayed scores were established during early months of the parser more than two years ago when point values were under a different scale (much higher).

2. To incentivize players to remain active rather than leaving.  Currently, players begin to drop off the rolls after being inactive for 30 days or not flying in the current tour (3 months).  This would continue that further in the records on the parser to include resetting  high overall scores on a rolling basis after 12 months.

3. Allows more players more opportunities to achieve high scores on an ongoing basis.

4. Makes the high all-time scores displayed more accurate and representative of the actual current 'best of the best'.

Please participate in the attached advisory poll on whether the "Overall" high scores list should be reset to display high scores over a rolling 12 month period.

Resetting may cause some to take drastic action.

Thanks to the 22 community members who participated in this poll.  It was a good representative sample from across Entente, Central and various major squads and players potentially affected by this change.  edit:   The results are viewable above and were overwhelmingly in favor of the change to a annual (4 tour) rolling lookback period.

I will work to implement this change as soon as possible.  In the meantime the Overall tab may display an error, as the initial coding changes get ironed out.  I'll report back once it is successfully changed.  Thank you again for your input!

This is planned for implementation ahead of the New Year, pending any significant additional community input suggesting the contrary.   Probably a good thing to do annually with community awards/recognition given.

After delays to insure we do this seamlessly, we wanted to give a heads up that we are taking steps towards being able to implement this change to the "overall" ranking soon, hopefully shortly after the start of the next tour.

If you don't know what this is about, see the original post above.  Thanks!
