FW190 Fighter units in south / center Italiy from Juli 43 to May 44?

Hi,

as far as I know during this time there were BF109 fighter units and FW190 ground attack units in south / center Italy.

But does anybody know, if there were FW190 fighter units too? (between Operation Husky and Retreat from Monte Cassino)

AFAIK the 190 was only employed by ground attack units in the Mediterranean, outside of JG2’s brief appearance in Tunisia.

As 357th_KW already wrote, there were no Fw-190 fighter units in Italy. But SG 4 sometimes flew fighter missions and Luftwaffe victory lists show several claims by its pilots.

I./JG 2 was in Italy for the first few months of 1944.

I have finalized some 5 front lines for the Vanders EMG Air War over Italia and one late (ca. 02.44) is preliminary.

I will add some extra landing boats for the Salerno Beachhead but the front itself is there.

At the weekend I tested the combination with JSOflyers new "italian and spanish cival war war terrain" of his desert modpackv11.

I like it. And I flew already some EMG career missions with SG2 with FW190-F3 over Sicily.
