162nd-YU-Markoni Posted December 24, 2022 Posted December 24, 2022 Hi guys what are VR minimal and recommended sys. requirements? What are your experiences as users?
paul_leonard Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 In VR everything is still a compromise. Incredibly our state of the art CPU’s and GPU’s can’t overpower 12 year old gaming software. Seems from what I’ve been following, get the faster Intel CPU, fastest RAM, and best motherboard you can afford (I have AMD so arguably unbiased) and the fastest 30X0 GPU you can afford. It seems that the game software is CPU bound so a more expensive 40X0 GPU pays only marginal benefit ( although the future may be a different outcome). If you can afford it the Varejo headset seems the best but we are all really happy with our Reverb G2’s (get them while you can).

Some people are OK running in 45fps but others need 72fps or 120fps. It also depends on the headset you choose and the settings you want to apply. So, the deciding process would be: 1.- Decide the budget for your PC and your VR headset (both budgets are related) 2.- Pick your VR headset 3.- Configure then your PC specs Currently the most difficult step is the step 2. There are several good VR headset out there: TODAY: DP cable wired: G2, Aero, VivePro2, Pimax 8KX, Index Wireless/USB cable (compressed): Pico4, Quest2, QuestPro, NEXT YEAR: DP cable: Pimax Crystal, new HTC, MeganeX, Pimax 12K?, Deckard?, SomniumVR1? Wireless/USB cable (compressed): Quest3

Reverb G2 offers the best bang for the buck really and would make an excellent first headset. Any fairly recent CPU would be fine along with a 30xx or 40xx GPU. Some would say Quest 2 - yeah it is in same price range as Reverb G2 and a lot of folks are happily running them, however it does not have native PC Display Port connection and actually runs through USB 3 compressing/decompressing the image. So little more overhead but still certainly can be used.
