Weird Update situation

I'm having a rather odd problem in which I am hoping someone might have an answer. This concerns IL-2 Sturmovik : Battle of Stalingrad and the add-on Tank Crew : Clash at Prokhoravka.

 

But first, an explanation of the way I have things organized on my PC. I have a Folder I created named "Games" on my desktop. Within this folder I have created subfolders containing specific types of games; E.G. Flight, Tanks, First-Person Shooters, Strategy, Casual, Naval, etc.

 

I have created two separate shortcuts to the Launcher exe. for IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles. Renaming said SHORTCUTS to IL-2 Sturmovik - Battle of Stalingard (for the "Flight" subfolder) and Tank Crew - Clash at Prokhoravka (for the "Tanks" folder).

 

Here lies the enigma. Each of these shortcuts (although from the same exe.) require separate updates. After I update the IL-2 Sturmovik - Battle of Stalingard shortcut I must then also update the Tank Crew - Clash at Prokhoravka. This is bewildering to say the least. They are shortcuts to the same launcher exe.

 

Yet, this does NOT happen with every update. It happened on the last one but not the one before. But prior to that update it has happened before.

 

Quite possible I am a complete moron, but this makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever. Please could someone shed some light on this because I am perplexed beyond words. It just doesn't make a bit of sense. 

 

Why am I updating the same game twice because of separate shortcuts to the same exe ?

You dont need 2 folders, files are common to both air and land

I understand. I do not have 2 folders. I have 2 separate shortcuts to the same exe for game genre purposes (Desktop organization). 1 folder, 1 exe, 2 shortcuts. 2 separate updates. I agree .... 1 update should cover both air and land. But it is not happening.

 

I know my description is a little confusing but 2 separate updates to the same game exe because of a superficial shortcut only, doesn't make sense.

 

All I can figure is perhaps 1 update is for Tank Crew alone, while the other is for Battle of Stalingrad alone.  I would think all updates would be covered by just updating the game once. Maybe I'm wrong though. Hence why I am here.

You have overcomplicated things for yourself.

 

Just use ONE exe for the whole series and you are done.  Do not separate the installs/exe into different folders.  The game was not designed to work this way. 

Again why make things more complicated?

Hmm... Maybe try starting over with your shortcuts, make a new shortcut to the launcher and copy it so you have 2 new identical shortcuts.

As I understand it he has just one .exe

As I understand it, he has exactly one .exe. Just two different shortcuts to it
