Note to self, check the forum before attempting to verify files and reloading game....Merry Christmas everyone

Wish I had checked here first, I've been pulling my hair out for the last 45 minutes trying to figure out what was wrong. Rebooted, verified game files on steam, was about to delete and reinstall.

I thought it had something to do with all the DLC I just bought for the sale. I was playing just fine, exited the game when I heard about the sale, dropped $75 on DLC, and then tried to start the game back up and it was dead...

lol. I've been reinstalling and trying things to get this working. I just installed openxr and thought that was the cause.

Please please please, 1CGS, please make sure offline play works when the servers go down ?

It threw up dialogue preventing the game from getting to the main menu? saying the app needed to be updated (despite choosing offline).

Wait, Tencent owns 1C? I'm new to Sturmovik, and if I'm reading that right, that's unfortunate. I have a lot of bad feelings toward Tencent...

Ahhh okay! Definitely puts my fears to ease!

His information is outdated, we now know that the tencent aquisition DOES in fact affect IL-2, and played a role in Jason's departure.

On another note, these server issues locking us out of the game are pretty worrying given the community's worries of GB being left for a new gen of simulator. I'd hate to see a future where all my GB content is locked behind a no-longer-functioning auth server with no working offline mode.

Outdated? Tencent do not own IL2 Great Battles and the team that make this sim do not work for Tencent.

As for turning off servers; Rise of Flight ceased meaningful development in 2013 and was last updated in 2015.

Servers still running….

No where in that interview does Jason state that TenCent bought 1CGS. In fact, Stormbirds issued a clarification from Jason when TenCent purchased 1C:

https://stormbirds.blog/2022/02/26/il-2s-publisher-acquired-by-tencent/

"An important clarification. 1C Entertainment is not our 1C Game Studios (1C-777 Ltd.). 1C Entertainment was the Warsaw based entity that owned several other smaller enterprises and titles. The IL-2 Sturmovik franchise is owned by 1C-777 Ltd which is Cyrpus based entity. Nothing has changed in that regard, but this development should be good news for us in the long-term as whenever this happens someone makes money (not me unfortunately) which could potentially end up doing good things for our team. That’s all I can say. There are no negatives here."

So, no, my info is NOT outdated.
