Why is it malfunctioning so much?  Getting awfully hard to play.

Can you narrow it down a tiny bit so people can try to help you?

Well,

Lately in SP, career, you have formations that dissolve, planes falling out of the sky on their own, planes flying into battle with their flaps fully extended, formations flying in circles, planes taxiing into the back end of the flight before take off. Bombers turning around before getting to the target, planes flying so slow one would think they are part of the infantry.  This seems to be throughout the career mode lately. 

 

I have been posting 'tracks' and I know the Devs are busy. I was just wondering about the frequency of such things recently. I'm not trying to 'bitch', just asking what has happened.......That's all.

All these strange AI behaviour I can confirm. It’s so much it’s difficult to report. I add bombers crash same time while circle the base and attackers don’t calm again after an successfully defended enemy attack (and of course crash). Do you also use mostly PMDG or EMG in WW1 ?

It feels like AI is getting mad or drunk.

No mission without something strange.

Really feels like broken. ☹️

Which ones? They seem to be broken either way. If you are the 'human' they can't miss, or if you are the 'human' they are with, they can't shoot for :hunter:a hill of beans.

I can confirm this very strange behavior with AI take-off with flaps fully up and then falling out of the sky. The campaigns are unplayable now

Regingrave is putting together some internal checklists for testing the AI.

He needs tracks to help drive that testing.

For each track there should be folders with mission files, as well as .trk file. Without mission folders the track won't work.

I, too, can confirm that it seems like more is broken than fixed. I kinda wish the developers would give us the straight dope in the release notes, but all we get is the "gee whiz" stuff. A LOT seems to be changing behind the scenes. Mostly for the worse.

 

AI Bomber formations tend to fall apart pretty easy. While flying an escort mission, I noticed that the stragglers (the number of which range from 1 to all but one) fly at stall speed, nose up, full flaps. Elevators are full up.

 

What used to be a 'vee' formation in the past is now a string of scattered bombers at least 20km-30km long. The AI escorts flying with me don't know what to do. Where do they escort? The seems they try to split the difference, so they're off in between the bombers in formation, and the ones stuck in nose-up mode... covering no one. In other words *every* "escort bombers mission" is non-functional.

OK... I'm gonna throw my 2 cents in the bucket as well. I had some VERY weird behavior from the AI last night. My flight of P38s actually covered me and shot down 5 enemy aircraft, then returned to formation when ordered and flew on my wing, all the way home, no matter what power setting.

 

Sorry, but I was so stunned by them doing exactly what they were told, I thought I should mention it.... somewhat tongue in cheek ?

 

I have had the flight with flaps down problem before and found the F5 command solved it (rejoin formation and return to mission)

We just did an escort mission.... and on the way home, my squadies just disappeared. Even the F6 command wouldn't bring them back from the target area. Then a bunch of Yaks jumped me. Now matter how high you fly, they spawn well above you, so it wasn't going well from the start.

 

Not sure if that's worse than another 20 vs 4 BoK mission, because the career mission generator is also broke beyond words. Going to try the Pat Wilson Campaign generator.

I thought this was fixed in 5.004?
