Need Help Deciding.

Hello all. First post here.

I've been thinking of purchasing IL-2 BOS. I havent flown a flight sim in many years. I come from the Janes Fighter Anthology / Microsoft combat flight simulator days.

Yep. Its been a long time and man how things have changed.

Ive done a lot of searches but there one thing I still cant get a grip on is where to download the initial product.

Let me first say I would love to do mainly multiplayer after I get tons of practice flying offline. I no doubt want to support the Devs 100% and purchase the sim from the IL-2 site. But are there many multiplayer servers out there? Or is it better to download the initial BOS sim from Steam for multiplayer ?

Many MP servers, both trainers and serious ones.
Downloading from the site is the best way to help the Devs and it matters not wether you're on the standalone OR Steam.
That enough?

:thank_you:

You buy from here:

https://il2sturmovik.com/store/battle-of-stalingrad/

Log in on the site, not just the forum.

The products in the red list on the right are all addons to this game and work in the same install. The stuff in the blue list below the red list are a different game.

Select what you want to buy, select them to buy for yourself, not as gift and then activate the key.

The download link should be in your account.....I think.:scratch_one-s_head:

The downloader will install everything to the latest version and activate the stuff you bought.

Welcome.

Tzigy's Holidays Gifting Extravaganza thread still appears to have some modules to give away if you're interested. In answer to your question I believe you can link what you buy here to Steam as well.

Indeed - look in here:

After you buy BoS (or Battle of Normandy or Flying Circus or Tank Crew) here at the website, a link will appear in your account. That is the installer and laincher for the game.

Steam is a bit simpler because after you buy Stalingrad  (mandatory via Steam) you can download from your Library.

Two ways to achieve the same goal. The website is better if you don't want Stalingrad; Steam is more convenient all-around but has a few minor disadvantages too, particularly that your Steam DLC purchases can only be played in the Steam version of the game.

I would buy it here without steam. Steam is fine, but it's annoying for games that have their own launcher clients.
