gdeschodt Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 Newb Q: After 200 hours of playing (or more), for the first time something I hit blew up very close under me and bent both my wings !!! The sim displayed "critical damage" but the plane actually flew OK... I made the mistake of putting autopilot on for a few seconds to take a picture, instead of pausing (my bad) and... the damn autopilot decided to bail the pilot out!!! I *really* wanted a chance to land this plane with cracked and bent wing (the infamous Typhoon-corsair!!) and see if the wings fell off or what, but I never got the chance. So since this will be hard to reproduce, I was wondering if one of you landed with seriously bent wings and what happened ? 1 1

1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 Yet another example that Tempest is an UFO plane ? 2 1
Trooper117 Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 It's a Stukaphoon... no problem, they were quite common...
RedeyeStorm Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 Well I have flown several types with bent wings. Fly very, very, very smoothly and the wings stay attached. 1

Like your camera optics polarized lenses are weird.

I did see the loose stabilizer coming and managed to get my prop out of the way but it bounced off the left wing and resulted in this: Spoiler (I ask that you ignore the potato quality as I was living in a dorm at the time and limited to a severely overtaxed laptop) Like in your case the game immediately suggested that I abandon ship, but after some very ginger half rate turns and biplane-speed cruising I managed to make it back to the airfield with the wing still attached. Luckily I didn't bounce on the landing and successfully made it all the way to parking to complete the mission, though the career did write the airframe off as a total loss. Spoiler Note the IL-2 in question off in the distance, still harassing ground units like nothing happened- further proof that their extra flaps and stabilizers are nothing more than anti-fighter countermeasures.
Knarley-Bob Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 If it was a P-51, the wings would already be gone.............
