RNAS10_Mitchell Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 (edited) Anyone have any info on the Snipe engine? Historical or perhaps game plans. Bentley Br1 or Br2? Edited December 16, 2022 by RNAS10_Mitchell
AndyJWest Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 I think production Snipes all had B.R. 2s. 1
1CGS LukeFF Posted December 16, 2022 1CGS Posted December 16, 2022 Right there in one of the recent DDs: ? Quote The new 9-cylinder 230 HP rotative engine Bentley BR2 had 100 HP more than the Clerget 9B engine installed on the very successful Sopwith Camel - a huge increase.

It's done to get you excited and interested... and when you are hooked and looking forward to it, it's removed to dash any hopes you had against the wall... Its just called conditioning... see, I bet you didn't know you were going through prisoner handling and interrogation. 1
Wardog5711 Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 It got pulled about an hour after the DD was posted. I wasn't given a reason.
AndyJWest Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Probably having trouble starting it... 2 1

NO.20_Krispy_Duck Posted December 19, 2022 Posted December 19, 2022 (edited) The BR2 was an impressive feat of engineering for its time - almost 25 litres of displacement producing 230 - 245 hp, which was quite potent for a rotary at a time when it was becoming increasingly apparent that inline, v-type, and radial engines had more development potential.
