News of the Snipe is now gone.....What happened?

They sent it to a farm upstate, to fly with other WWI planes in a free range organic hangar.

Definitely not my choice, but probably a good variant to add if we ever get some bombers. Also, I really would like to see a Spit VIII in-game.

Posted

I’m sure this new variant will be up to the high standards established by the devs. That said I am far more interested in news of the new project and even more so, any indication of not too far off engine work to greatly improve performance on multi core/thread CPU’s and modern gpu’s particularly for vr. Would gladly pay for that instead of yet more planes/variants.

Huh?

For the west, Normandy and Bodenplatte we have Spit V, Spit IX and Spit XIV and their mods - to go along with 109G6, 109G14 and 109K4 and their mods.

3 vs 3, an obvious imbalance.

Should be interesting. Can't honestly say I'd have rather had this than, say, an I-153 or C.200 (or even a recce 109), but it is pretty cool to see all the little differences between the 109 variants as I go through them in a career.

Reminds me of the fact that I really wish for a Spit Mk V Late

Very cool. Glad to see the investment in new artists. Now we just need a reason to be at 7k ?

No ... I think we were, in general, referring to the 'plane list' across the board.

While some would say it's "just another 109". I'm still going to get it!
Been waiting for a G-6/14 with AS since Bodenplatte was announced!

Really nice to see this plane finally being added. Now we just need the G-10 and the earlier 109's ?

I agree with the G-10 its very similar to the AS and this excited me.

According to historical documents, the Luftwaffe used the G6/AS variant to jump over sharks in the North Sea.

Wait until the G6/AS-LMNOP comes out.

4% more rivets than the previous model and the paint on the cockpit floor is darker. ?

Day one purchase for me.

BF109 is one of my favorite World War II fighters. Excited to see another especially since it can equip the MK108!

Joke aside 20-25$ for aircraft modification that brings absolutly nothing new gameplay wise.....NO......at least you could do torpedo modification for ju88a4 or ju88a17!

I will probably buy the 109, but to really give excitement to the series I would be happy to pay for a realism package for the sim that includes:

Wake turbulence

Realistic torque

Gun recoil

Hydraulic damage

Electrical damage

More realistic landings and take offs

Fuel systems modelling.

Yes, when these realistic elements exist, no matter what aircraft is released, everyone will buy it?

For that there is Digital Combat Simulator (with those aspects translating into purchasing cost).  IL-2 is not that kind of “simulator”, even with their favorite, the Bf-109.

Personally gonna pass on that. I've got more 109's than I can fly.

This! Adding drop-tanks to this sim and the singleplayer careers would make a lot of sense both from a gameplay and historical perspective.

If the G14 is the same thing as the G6AS, UMMM why bother?

Makes me think of the scene in The Big Short with Anthony Bourdain.

Or a cargo modification for the GAZ - I'd pay for that actually...

I think I mentioned this earlier - but the AA gun isn't that practical for racing, and when I flip it I feel bad for the gun crew.

I... disagree. Entirely.

There are lots of aspects of systems and details that are modelled as well as DCS (or better than in some modules) - in spite of the lack of clickability.

The only decent 109 we have is the E. Once they took the tail struts away I rather lost interest. Hope you all enjoy it, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between any of the G variants. Mind you, I might have spotted a G-12 if I saw one. ?

E4 would get my money and while they’re at it, a few early marks Spitfires so we can go Battle of Britain, again. Beating a dead horse with a stick I guess, just like a Pacific expansion. Just so they know there’s still interested people out there.

They ain't the 6AS has an uprated engine with different gearing, so it's not the same performance envelope, and also has some additional streamlining that makes it more similar to a K-4 or G-10 than to the G-14. Otherwise the G-14 wouldn't have had it's own AS variant historically if it had those features inherently.

Looking forward to it. Although the F4 is my favourite 109, the G6 late is a close second so another, high performing G6 is welcome, to me anyway.

I was hoping for a G-10...more fresh than G6. But, it would seem that G-10 did not seem much service in the west front, sadly...

But yeah, G6AS is ok too, still not much difference other than the extra boost.

I don’t care, I think you’re just wrong. IL-2 has never even pretended to be a systems simulator.

Another Bf 109?...never enough !!?

Pls Devs now give us same juicy target like B17-B24 to eat..?

And a un upgrade of engine  sound Me 109 could be also a great update about immersiveness..

While waiting new Bf 109G-6/AS some  "facts" about how many AS version were in use and in which units.... to whoever could be interested.

Disclaimer: I have some doubts how well units recorded what G-6 versions they had but here seems that AS appears in record first time in June - 44

Time frame Jun-Dec 44 for total numbers and an extract units using G-6/AS in August

Source of data: https://www.ww2.dk/

(sorry my excel localisation: Months Jun -Dec)

Collector’s aircraft is the perfect way to introduce more 109’s. Well done.

This way we can get on to other things with the full modules. :)

This must be good news right? " high-altitude interceptor" must mean we are getting a allied high altitude bomber .

We also got splendidly detailed Landing Ship Tanks and Landing craft Infantry ......the question is : where are the Tanks and Infantry  ?

That looks great.

Will this one have the current 1min Start&Notleistung or will you take the opportunity to bring the DB605 series up to the correct 3min?

From DD:

The base model of this aircraft in Great Battles will have the DB605AS engine working on B4 fuel (87 octane) with 1.42 ATA and 1435 HP takeoff power (1 minute limit). There will be the following modifications available:
- DB605ASM engine using С3 fuel (100 octane) allowing 1.7 ATA and 1800 HP takeoff power (around 3 minute limit);
- DB605ASM engine using С3 fuel (100 octane) with MW50 water-methanol injection system, allowing 1.7 ATA and 1800 HP takeoff power (up to 10 minutes time limit while there is water-methanol mixture left). In this modification the engine can take the takeoff power longer, but the downside is that the aircraft becomes around 100 kg heavier (MW50 weight).

So, I've already got the 109 that I really like with the E series... can't really tempt myself with yet another G6, but I'm glad that the Luftwaffles are happy ?

Along with the new Spitfire, that new La-5 and the Romanian thing that I won't be purchasing, there's not much on offer for my interest to be captivating... oh, I forgot, I'll probably get the Dakota when Gambit does his magic with a campaign as it's such an iconic aircraft.

The only other possible purchase will be the Snipe, but only if it gets good reports on it's handling after it's release.

Keep at it dev's... eventually more stuff coming in the future will hopefully make me want to buy more.  :good:
