gabuzomeu Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 (edited) Long long time ago, I collected these -250- skins for both payable and AI aircraft. The pack has been updated Jan 12th and now contains all skins originally distributed with Piper Kiev campaigns Most of them are used in SP campaigns either from PiperKiev or from other creators, (if you do not have these skins, the campaigns use the default skin) and they do not replace any existing skin in your game. Unfortunately, I could not trace the original creators, who keep all credits. PM me for anything regarding this. A last word of caution: some of the skins include swastikas: do not download this file if you are not OK with this. To install, download the zip by clicking here: then extract the Skins folder into your name/documents/1C SoftClub/il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover/PaintSchemes You can get many campaigns in this post : Edited February 19, 2023 by gabuzomeu Complete pack of PiperKiev campaigns skins 3 4 2
343KKT_Kintaro Posted December 15, 2022 Posted December 15, 2022 Hi Gabuzomeu. I'm no expert on these things but I think that sooner or later we'll switch to a 4k version of the game. I dunno, maybe these skins of yours will be obsolete within a few months only. 1
gabuzomeu Posted December 16, 2022 Author Posted December 16, 2022 Hi, I do not know whether upscaling to 4k will be easy or not ? I am just putting here whatever I have collected which might be helpful in the mean time. Hopefully 4k arrives soon! 1
343KKT_Kintaro Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Thanks Gabuzomeu! We'll see what happens next! 1
danperin Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 (edited) The main details will be 4k, mates (panels, rivets, weathering...) so any 2k skin (without strong forced details) will still look decent ingame since the 4k maps with main details will overlay the 2k painting and they are not editable/accessible. ? danperin Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 (edited) Attached you guys can see one of the non editable overlays with all the details. This is a texture map that will be upscaled to 4k. This texture (a .dds file with alpha) will always go over/overlap any skin the user have access ingame, so if you create a solid color 1024x1024 pink paint scheme, you will have a detailed plane with all the main details untouched, but where you see "transparency" in that png sample will be filled with that pink skin color (it will be under that detailed map). There are a lot more maps that go over the Paint Scheme like I said, normal maps (the bump/height map), weathering maps, specular light maps, damage maps (no need to be 4K) and S-maps (no need to be 4k also, because those are the maps for the internal parts of the plane like machineguns, engine, ribs, inside walls, external view cockpits, etc...). None of those mentioned textures are user editable, for skinning you can just change what a bucket of paint would do IRL over an external plane frame (but you can always add your own Markings, kill counts, squad emblems, etc...). Blitzen Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 Great - I think I had these all from the first time they were posted. I wish you would have included the Malta campaigns ( They are good and still work...) and the Murmansk campaigns as well ( ok ok - they don't work so what's the use? ) I did notice the newer Beaufighter 3rd party campaign isn't included- too bad its pretty good! Thanks!? 1
Boomerang Posted December 16, 2022 Posted December 16, 2022 7 hours ago, danperin said: non editable overlays This is very true. I've made a couple of templates matching what is already present in 2k and reproduced, (not up-scaled), to 4k. Up-scaling to 4k just makes the *.jpg image file bigger with jiggered lines, which is not beneficial to the quality of the image. Does anyone know if there is a mod or tools that can be used to add the other image Maps, (normal, specular, etc) in game? I can make them for personal use, or share if anyone is interested, but really don't see the point if they can't be added simply. Best Regards 2

Best Regards Hey, mate Since those are core maps, I think there's no tool that can access the textures. There's maybe a way to make everything editable, but I think Team Fusion don't plan to work on that. 1
