Macchi C.200 and Italian speech

Since we can't have them all, I personally believe that the criterion for choosing the aircraft to be modeled and included in the IL-2 should be that of the number of examples produced. Secondly, it could also be that of the number of specimens present in the theater of war concerned. I am therefore thinking of the Macchi C.200, 1153 of which were built, and 51 of which were present in Russia from August 1941, which carried out 2,557 sorties of offensive penetration, 511 in tactical support dropping bombs, 1,310 strafings, 1,938 escorts, but absent from the game. On the other hand, the Macchi C.202, built in 1150 units, was present in Russia from the summer of 1942 in only 17 units which made only 17 missions in four months. I really appreciate the presence in the game of the latter, which gives its fans a benevolent non-historical advantage, but I would see it more correct to add the presence of its predecessor, which I take the liberty of suggesting to the developers, who I see are working on completing a even less produced fighter aircraft, the I.A.R. 80/81, of which 171 and 176 examples were built respectively.
On this occasion, I would like to ask the producers of the game to consider adding to careers Italian names, ranks, portraits and voices: at least for Italian players, I think all that bawling on the radio in German is like the screeching of chalk on a blackboard.. .

Jason actually mentioned in one of the Developer Diaries that the team was going to add both an Italian pilot model and Italian voice lines for the MC.202.

Unfortunately this dates back quite a while (I think it could be more than two years already...) and hasn't been brought up again since then.

I was about to say basicaly the same thing...

At the time, a pilot model and voices seemed to much for a single plane, so fingers crossed!

No, an extremely dedicated fan has been making this, in their own spare time, as a collaboration. The devs are making the FM.

Secondly it is a flawed notion to use as the sole qualifier for inclusion the numbers produced. Some planes were produced in small numbers but had a huge impact on the war, either as a whole or in a specific theatre - some were produced in vast numbers but had no impact on the war.

Better yet, compared to the thousands of messerschmitts produced, 200 I.A.Rs might seem tiny, but it is a larger amount than the full size of many entire airforces today - and was a very large proportion of Romanias contribution to the air war. The Finns operated about 100 brewster buffalos which is nothing compared to the amount of Gipsy or Tiger Moths produced, but made a huge difference in that theatre and was a significant portion of the Finnish Air Force. As for the Macchi 202, it was decided by public vote.

Oh come on, you can't make comparisons like that with modern air forces, whose aircraft are significantly more capable by a huge amount and therefore don't need to produce thousands.

I am all in for a SM 79 or similar 3 engined  bomber

And I can see why. Obviously the 200 was the more important aircraft on the Eastern Front, and I would have preferred it for this historical reason. But if you ask me what I prefer to fly, it is the 202 hands down.

Anyway, hopefully there are some industrious Italian fans of the 200 and make it into a collector's plane, so that we can flesh out the Italian operations in Russia.

If we ever get a husky pack, the 200, s79, and so many other midwar things will be necessary. Theyd also flesh out a few blank spots for both sides. Earlier, later p40, p38, 190a4, etc...

One can dream :)

IAR Brasov factory produced 450 IAR-80/81's. It's not much when compared with the numbers other countries produced, but It made the bulk of the Romanian fighter force.

Also, while the Romanian air force was small, it was still the third largest air force on the eastern front.

Anyway the point is moot, since a big chunk of the work is being done by a third party modeler.

I will check to see if any of this is possible at this time. With only a single Italian aircraft, I would not be too optimistic. But I will ask.

And while the initial post had some merit, this thread was starting to turn into another aircraft/theater wish-list.

We already have several threads taking care of that and don't need another. These two being the most current:
