Rickrick123 Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Anyone know how to get searchlights working in the mission editor ? I have a good knowledge of the editor.
Sketch Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 (edited) They should work just like any other AAA vehicle. In the Attack Area Command MCU, set the priority to low (this is the key to getting the searchlight to work), check the "Attack Air Targets" box, set your distance to whatever you want, and the time for 999 seconds. I normally use a Checkzone MCU for when a player enters an area, but here's an example with a Mission Begin MCU. Of course, the mission must be at night time. I'm not exactly sure when night time starts and ends (per day), but basically when it's dark out; the search lights will work. dbuile Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 This is a difficult site to navigate, but I spent a lot of time here several months ago: www.gyges.dk Last week while reading Gebhard Ader's "History of the German Night Fighter Force", I thought I should begin making searchlight belts and such, and figure out how to mimic radar and "send" morse code to a player. Luckily, my gaming computer blew up yesterday. I think it was performing an intervention on behalf of my sanity ? 1
Gambit21 Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Generally you want the AI set to "low" BTW. 1
jollyjack Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 Light my Fire too? That should work, but i tried to get a more complex situation working, regarding saving resources while i got a lot of bombers on the move ... it does that now partly using Complex and Checkzone triggering:
Billsponge1972 Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 I may be wrong on this but I think I read somewhere about using the force complete MCU to turn them on and off. 1

Correct. But then once lit, there is their behavior to master, how fast they move and the targets they track. The behavior is similar to the AAA units, but they shoot photons instead of lead ? .
Billsponge1972 Posted March 26, 2023 Posted March 26, 2023 Ha! Well said! And appropriate coming from you, one of the Jedi Masters of the ME! ?
