I've been playing a lot of WW2 Il-2 lately in VR.

Decided to try out Flying Circus again, and experienced EXTREME stuttering around AA emplacements.

I tried to be scientific about identifying the circumstances. I flew WW1 planes on WW2 maps (created with Vander's Easy Mission Generator), with no issue.

I flew WW2 planes on WW1 maps (with WW1 AA), and had the same stuttering issues.

I deleted all the AA off my WW1 mission, and it flew fine. So for some reason, my PC does NOT like WW1 AA.

CPU: Ryzen 7 3700X

GPU: Radeon RX 5700 XT

RAM: 32 GB

Windows 11

VR: WMR Samsung Odyssey

I also use OpenComposite instead of SteamVR.

Also switched back to SteamVR, just to see if OpenComposite was the problem, but no, same problem.

Do you think your problem has something in common with this?

I don’t THINK so.
My experience is that the game plays for a second, then stops, plays for a second, then stops. This happens as long as I’m near the AA and it’s firing.

When the game stops, I can look all around in VR and even check the map, but nothing is moving.

Still having this issue after recent updates and verifying game files.

Same issue after the recent update. Only allied AA seems to be an issue.

Getting a new NVME drive next week. I will transfer Il-2 from my SATA drive to the NVME and see if that makes a difference.

Moving Il-2 to NVME fixed it!

also seems to have solved a LOT of the other stutters and freezes I’ve had in the game. I don’t know what was wrong with my SATA SSD, if it was the cable or what, but this works like a charm.

Il-2 is smooth as butter again! And I can actually ENJOY Flying Circus!
