Returning player, Awful FPS since last played.

Hello all,

I use to play IL-2 daily for several years but since Covid I just got out of the game, A few days ago I redownloaded and got all the equipment out, And the game is not very playable on my setup anymore, Frame rate is in the mid 40s most of the time, I remember distinctly being able to play at high graphics and got a smooth 60 FPS, Now that is around 40 which is unplayable to me, especially since I am using Track IR, I turned off Vsync and that seemed to help a bit (Still low 50s with low graphics) but the screen tearing is too much. Can anyone suggest anything? I am using the exact same computer.

The game is "Playable" with low settings and vsync off, But again, the graphics are nowhere near what I use to get, and the screen tearing with track IR is awful.

The main frame rate drops are when I face the ground, I remember that being a bit of an issue in the past, but this is not playable. So sad I can't enjoy flying the mosquito for the first time without all this troubleshooting.

My specs are

GTX 960

16 GB Ram

Intel i5-4690K

1080p 60 HZ monitor (Have the game set to that also)

Thank you!!

I moved to a 1060 about 6 years ago to maintain similar performance to what you want even back then. Since then a 1080 and now a 3080.

The GTX960 really isn’t going to cut it anymore. It’s an 8 year old card with very little VRAM compared with newer offerings and the game has developed to be more demanding over time.

Damn. I was afraid this was the answer. Is there at least any settings you could suggest to tweak to make it playable until I purchase a new card?

Not sure if any tweaking would be beyond that needed without culling the graphical quality.

Im sure someone will chime in with done suggestions though.
