JGr2/J5_Baeumer Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 Mission Designer: J99_Sizzlor As a COOP mission it is important to arrive on time. Once the mission begins you cannot join. There will be a briefing 15 minutes before the listed start time that participants will find useful. The St. Mihiel mini campaign is 4 one hour missions. Each is based on Mitchell’s plans for the Entente offensive. He divided it in 4 phases, hence the 4 missions: 1. Day before the Attack 2. Night before the attack 3. Day of the attack 4. Exploitation We will run 1 &2 consecutively this week. The objective types and weather as well as the squadrons are based on the actual historical event of the St. Mihiel Offensive. There are of course some simplifications to fill in some blanks and to achieve a somewhat balanced gameplay. Victory There are different types of secondary objectives. The coalition, that completes the most secondary objectives successfully, will win the mission as long as they complete more than half the objectives in a mission. Ex. completing 2 of 3 objectives will win the mission. If no coalition is able to achieve more than 50% of the objectives results in a draw. https://discord.gg/7yxhKCeM?event=1051380249339887686 Why Coop Mode? Coop Mode has some advantages but also some drawbacks. When you die in Coop mode you are dead for the rest of the entire mission and can only take part in the missions that will follow or man a rear gunner seat in another aircraft. There is no repair and rearm feature. You have a set flight path and orders that will be displayed in subtitles ones you reach the specific waypoints. Every plane that is not piloted by a human player will be piloted by the AI. The AI in your flight has the same waypoints and orders as you do. This in turn will lead to groups of airplanes facing each other in formations instead of individuals. Formation Flight There are two different types of flight formations used throughout the campaign. Either left or right echelon formation and the V-formation. The V-formation has number 2 on the left behind the flight leader (number 1) and then number 3 to the right behind number 1. In case your flight is mixed in with AI you should know your place in the formation to avoid collisions. Formations will be ordered through subtitles. Every flight has their specified space on the screen for subtitles concerning their flight. It is important to spend a few minutes looking at your flight instructions (your plane selection tips you off, as well as mission description, and in flight messages for your flight. It is important to follow those instructions and win your flights objectives (offensive or defensive) in order to be able to win. This is a beta test so we are looking for feedback and hope to run a full four hour version with all four missions in sequence one immediately after the other at a later date.
