Disable Pimax audio and use headphones?

Hi again all.  I have the HyperX Cloud Orbit headphones.  How on earth do I disable the 8kx audio and how or what do I click on to use my Orbits?  Can it be done? I tried the various settings in windows 10 etc,. but no sound from the Orbits. I'm sure it should work, I just don't quite know how.  Anyone?   Thanks again   take care   Eddie.

Maybe I didn't explain my issue properly.  I click on the audio in my task bar, and I have options for my Orbits, on board and Ace Nvidia HD audio.  I connect my 8kx and when I run Pitool, my audio automatically goes to Pimax 7.1 in Windows.  If I click on the Orbits in Windows, nothing happens.  My audio is stuck on Windows 7.1.  What am I doing wrong?  What should I be doing?  It's gotta work somehow.  No?  All input appreciated.  take care

1) Do you play on steamvr? there are settings for audio, you can force 1 output, I force pimax audio there.

 

2) Plug your hmd first, start pitool, and now you should have 1 more option (pimax, but it is called "usb audio" or similar). Now you have to choose another output. And try to play after that.

Hi and thank you.  Yes, I have IL 2 steam game but what if I use OpenXR?  I recently downloaded OpenXR and it should not need anything from steam.  Am I correct?  All this new software confuses me.  Also, why does Windows switch to 7.1 when I open PiTool?  Is that normal? If I can stop it from doing that, my Orbits might work. Thanks again my friend...take care..Eddie.

You may have Pimax audio set as default audio.

Can you switch it back after starting pitool, and after it is already on pimax sound? If yes, it will work on XR too.

 

Ps: you can not change sound while in game

Got it working fellow members!    To be honest, all I did was upgrade PiTool from 283 to 284.  I fooled around with that sound issue for TWO days, and all it took was a new PiTool version.  Let me say this,..the sound and sound effects in IL 2 are amazing with my Orbit headphones.  They are the Planar Magnetic model and with those on my head, I can hear absolutely everything with absolute clarity. .  Flaps, gear, canopy, wind, gunfire either coming or going.  What a difference!  I've been playing around with the DMAS and KDMAS earphones, but I'm super glad I decided to try my headphones.  In my opinion, and if you don't mind the extra weight on your head, using a decent set of headphones is the way to go.  Thanks for the help all  take care...Eddie.
