Bloyamind Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 Any idea on how to counter this? Saving and loading profiles does nothing. Somehow my joystick is never affected. Every once in a while, fine, but now when I just want to go for a quick flight it's starting to really bother me. It's been a few times closer together now.
9./JG52_J-HAT Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 (edited) @Bloyamind Steamcloud on or off? Only the throttle? If you load your file (needs to be in the 1C/CloD folder) write down the code it shows next to a binding you know was to your throttle. Then bind some button on your throttle to a command, write this code down and compare both codes. If they are not the same, it means your throttle got assigned a different id (code) by windows. This is most likely the cause. You will need to edit the ini files (confuser or the one you created with save as) and replace the old codes (in your backup you loaded) with the new ones (you wrote down after the random binding). A few things to avoid the id swap: Plug the same hardware always in the same port (so windows doesn‘t assign a new id) and try disabling energy saving for usb ports. This sometimes helps with windows reassigning ids. If you got Steamcloud ON, you will need to download the file from steamcloud (there is a specific link you can use to see all files for all games; google it, pretty straight forward, gotta be logged in) and edit it before putting it in the 1C/CloD folder and loading. Take a look at the Technical Support section here for some of my more recent posts. I explain this in a few of them and there are more cases to explore if it‘s the case. Let me know if this sorted it out and if not, what else is happening. Edited December 6, 2022 by 9./JG52_J-HAT 1
Bloyamind Posted December 7, 2022 Author Posted December 7, 2022 Thanks for taking the time J! I just came out of my bios, and configuring it to run my new memory sticks at the factory speed was pure alchemy. So your text is basically swimming before my eyes right now haha. In other words, i'm too tired to follow. Am I reading correct that it would help to turn steamcloud off? Changing USB ports might be it as I've been plugging and unplugging stuff with the recent operations on my pc. For now I'll reset it and fly, cause that's what I need right now
9./JG52_J-HAT Posted December 7, 2022 Posted December 7, 2022 Yeah, turning it off is usually recommended. It allows you to change your own files without having to go through downloading them and then editing (because steam cloud doesn‘t save them on your pc) in these cases of changed ids or when, for example, setting up belt configuration in your user.ini. Also, sometimes Steamcloud may replace your own files with some back up or default files, erasing everything you had before. Be careful when turning it off though if you had your config working with it on, since in my experience it doesn‘t download the files you were using but uses whatever was already in the 1C/CloD folder. In this case, you need to go the the steamcloud file repository I mentioned, login, select CloD Blitz (not old CloD), download the files you have there, disable Steamcloud, put the files you downloaded in the folder and then start the game. This should keep your configs. And always keep a backup of all the ini files just in case. But whenever you unplug an input device, try to remember where it was to reuse the same port. Or you will have to go through the find/replace id routine. The same happens for example when you reset your usb hub in device manager. 1
