Nation and names

Hi guys,i have successfully created the spanish squadron "Escuadrilla Azul" into axis, question, is there any possibility of adding a nation like Spain to the side of the axis. Otherwise, how to create names and surnames pilots for a specific squadron. Thanks!!!

Yo lo que he hecho es sustituir a la Regia Aeronáutica por el Ejercito del Aire, cambiado los nombre y apellidos Italianos por Españoles, Las imágenes de las medallas italianas por las equivalentes en Español, los mismo he hecho con la escuadrilla Normandie, la cual he pasado a la F.A.Republica Española y tambien cambiando en el archivo, los nombre y apellidos franceses por españoles.

It would need to be done in code.  Definitely possible as it has been done before, but it is a non trivial effort.

Hi, I have some ideas actually, but I'd need to try it out. Could you please share the Escuadrilla Azul squadron file and, if possible, the list of first- and surnames for the Spanish (do retain the diacritics, ñ-s and such for the time being)?

What I have done is replace the Italian names and surnames with Spanish ones, but you cannot use the Ñ or the ´

If you are interested I can upload some screenshots of how it turned out for me.

The game will barf if you use non English characters.

Sure! Here is. 

 

include name and surname files (ñ ´ characters free), but i dont use it for not replacing anyother nation. Include too day 0 campaing with squadron, names and surnames  recreated in campaing file. 

 

I tried also to include medals, flags, etc, but unsuccessfully

 

Looking files in official campaign sim, it declare service 204 with Spain... don't know if this helps

Here's a teaser after some experimentation. Made a change that would accept non-ASCII chars for PWCG (see the names in the attached roster pic) and "normalize" the names for mission generation (see the in-game pic with Ltn Muñoz).

Made a pull request for Pat (https://github.com/PWCGDeveloper/PWCGCampaign/pull/52), let me know if there are some problems to fix with the changes (or some improvements to be done).

 

Besides that, I'm wondering what would be the ideal situation regarding medals. AFAIK the Spanish volunteers were properly incorporated into Wehrmacht/Luftwaffe and got the corresponding German ranks as well collected the German medals and such. However... they also got medals from Spain if I'm not mistaken, not sure if this happened during or only after their tour though. So we shouldn't really think of replacing the set of medals for the Escuadrilla Azul, right?

No, currently the change works only only on my PC, it's not yet approved and merged to the main branch. We'll see how it goes

Regarding the medals, it is known that many members evolved their military career in Spain by being assigned to these units. They received medals for acting in a foreign campaign, but for specific actions they received medals of Wehrmacht/Luftwaffe. I don't think that needs to be changed.
