Grossdeutschland or Großdeutschland Division or Panzergrenadier Division Grossdeutschland was an elite combat unit of the Wehrmacht that fought on the Eastern Front in World War II. The Grossdeutschland was considered to be the premier unit of the German Army and as such it was one of best-equipped units of the Wehrmacht, receiving equipment before almost all other units.
Sturmgeschütz (Assault Gun) Battalion "Großdeutschland" formed from 16th Company, Infantry Regiment Grossdeutschland and the 192nd Assault Gun Battalion.

In January–February 1943, Grossdeutschland and XLVIII.Panzerkorps, along with the II SS Panzer Corps took part in the Third Battle of Kharkov. The division fought alongside the 1.SS Division Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler, 2.SS Division Das Reich and 3.SS Division Totenkopf during these battles. After the fall of Kharkov, the Grossdeutschland was again pulled back and refitted.

There are a couple of accessories coloured in sand yellow that can't be changed at the moment as there is a bug in the game skin. Hopefully the developers will fix this in the future. It got missed because all the game skins come in yellow. Considering that I had no template to work with, I think the skin turned out really nice. Hope you check it out.:bye:

Wow! You should really be proud of yourself for this one Flowbee. Amazed at how you capture the look of a battle worn machine. And the small issue of the yellow accessories doesn't detract from the overall look. I'm sure the crew didn't mind if the parts from the African campaign made it to them to use lol. And the GD is a great addition as a lot of emphasis has been on SS units. Thank you!

I’m really glad you like it ?.

Against early expectations this one is probably my favourite piece of work. A lot of credit also goes to the developers for creating such a great bumpmap to work on. The alpha layer also really delivers with matt dirt and shiny metal balanced just right. I  doubt I’ll ever be able to top this one but everyone needs a little luck now and then.:gamer:

S! Flow,

You've done a fantastic job This is especially true since you have only the alpha as a template. It's going to be a lot of fun painting Stugs once they release the official template. The stug has so many unique camouflage skins that it almost matches the panther in variety.

At the risk of looking ridiculous I noticed when using the stug that after having adjusted the tone it no longer worked as well as it should with the previous version of the alpha layer. I then rebalanced the alpha and checked it out on various maps and in different lighting conditions to get it right. For those that noticed this and found it slightly annoying I am putting out what will hopefully be the last update on it. If you're happy with the way it was or really couldn't care less please just ignore my ongoing ramblings and tweaks.

thanks for everything you do for us too, now with this same skins you could also give it a white glaze so it can also be used with snow, I don't know if it existed but you could also try making it white lines, or even green, like they used to do with panzers!! feel free it's just a suggestion, ok? anyway you're good, thanks!

As far as I know HB is going to use this skin as a base for a future winter version. Great photos Cippoz!

S!,

I may have to postpone this for a bit. I can't seem to find all the bits from the alpha. I can do a very rough version, but it probably will be a hot mess.

I had a look and did almost half but it was mostly a mess. Winter skins are inherently difficult to pull off and without a template more than twice as hard. I will wait until a template or at least a panel finder comes along. Getting past Christmas is challenge enough. :drink2:

Rip the December page out of your calendar and pretend it's already January. Problem solved!?
