P-38 yoke movement

Am I the only bothered?  The visual representation of full yoke deflection is wrong/excessive, my arms are twisted in a pretzel.. and that is why I can not prevail in combat...?

Alter the curve ...

Isn't there a manual for maintenance showing how to set the yoke and range of travel?

One would think so, plus there are p38s flying out there..

Maybe he never uses MAXIMAL bank,  but not once I saw the yoke rotation go over 90 degrees...

I do not need set different curves, I fly w stick, and that part is not a problem. it is just the visual "over-representation" of the maximal yolk rotational deflection...

Well, if I read the one online correctly, they turn 144 degrees +- 5 in each direction.

One way?? wait what? like 72 to one side? surely not 144 one direction?

Ah, okay.

I actually fly all yoke-equipped aircraft in IL-2 with a yoke and all the stick-equipped aircraft with a stick.

Thanks for the video! These yokes have a lot more play in real life than I imagined.

Looked like he turned the yoke pretty far at 2:28.

Oh and 2:50. He’s holding the yoke from underneath the handles it’s so far.

Exactly! Precisely what I look for in a good omelette.

Same here. I flew the p 38 with honeycomb first and now Fulcrum yoke. It and the JU 88 c6

I get very good precision flying with yoke. And a feel of authenticity

Just rebuilding the p-38 yoke. And planned 150° to both sides.

3D prototype is progressing…

Among a lot of difficulties: the axis for the whole column is below the deck…

A lot of work for the diving flaps, since it’s lot of construction under the surface fo a simple function one doesn’t use very often… I added a second stage trigger though. Main target: keep it as close as possible to the original p-38 grip. So do not expect any ergonomic highlights: we are talking about planes of the 30s…

Where did you find that information?

Ok, seeing you're working on an entire cockpit model, how much of this are you going to make!?

Well, not quite sure, but I am going to aim to create a series of let‘s say 50-100?

Most parts will be made of aluminum. The grips will be cherry wood. Some small (inner) parts may by 3D printed.

I start with the yoke and the Column with all the buttons attach to that (weapons selector rockets/bombs) and camera. After that the quadrant with gear, flaps next then trim panel, bomb and rocket box and last dashboard with pedals.

Nice setup

One must remember when it comes to the P 38

Flying it was like operating the most advanced ac at the time. Workload for the pilot was enormous. It was not a rookie plane.
I never got any good with it, I abandoned it early a bit fed up with its tendency to brake in two when hit. But if it is modeled right it is not enough to use rudders and yoke to make it turn like a single engined fighter. It had a very good performance if the pilot was able

Are the 3D files of the P38 yoke available?
