smink1701 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 I take it all back ... I LOVE all the trailers, marketing, etc. Superb! The more 777 can do to get people excited about BOS, the more product they will sell and the better chance of us getting new theaters of war, planes, etc. 777 ... I salute you!!! 1
FuriousMeow Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 That doesn't make any sense. You think people are misled? You see one advertisement or commercial and immediately go purchase a product? I'm sure there are people that do it, but they spend their time calling up hotlines they saw on the moving picture box - they aren't playing these games or finding out about it through very obscure gaming sites. If people don't do their due diligence, that truly is their fault. There is no duping. There is a forum, a website, gameplay videos on youtube - a whole cornucopia of information to look up and find that that one single, okay two, videos aren't fully representative because they are cinematic trailers - which again - every single development studio releases! 1
Gambit21 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 (edited) You are seriously mis-characterizing the tone of my post. I thought I was speaking in "maybe and possibly" terms - and making sense. I said people may "feel" duped - that's on them. I never said it wasn't. I was just playing devils advocate to some extent and looking the big picture. Honestly, I thought I typed fairly clearly. Okay, you think people are maybe misled? It really doesn't change how the response should be, there is nothing here other than marketing to the masses to garner/generate interest to dig deeper and find out more. Aside from the maybe and possibly terms you threw in there, the rest of the post certainly reads like you think the video is intentionally duping someone - which if someone is dumb enough to go "kewl videeya! open wallet spend money now. How credit card work in fax machine?!" then the simple process of plugging a computer in would have defeated them long ago. People spending money for games aren't that stupid - well a few are and... they just are special or, more likely, trolls. Edited July 25, 2014 by FuriousMeow
Gambit21 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 If it read like that, then that's your filter and perhaps your reading comprehension that's the issue, not me. I know there is no intent to mislead, I stated that. Yikes - I keep forgetting I'm on the internet.
FuriousMeow Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Are you kidding me? You say "we" and then go on to "the target audience" like they are somehow different than "we." What you typed may seem like some sweet convoluted double speak to cover your ass, but the intent is clear. It's the target audience, the others who are not part of this community who might be disappointed and feel duped. Honestly this is a real head-scratcher as far as I'm concerned. I'm not calling the devs wrong for releasing this - maybe ill-advised to some extent.
Gambit21 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Did somebody pee in your breakfast this morning? You are once again grossly mischaracterizing not only my post, but my intentions. The target audience are those outside of this forum - thus the difference between "we" and "target audience" This isn't that hard. Know what, I'm just going to delete my post. Adult conversation is too much of a challenge right now apparently.
FuriousMeow Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 (edited) Yes, adult conversation is. I just saw a commercial that people were super happy drinking Coca-Cola, I'm all in - Coca-Cola for the rest of my life! Trix are for kids?! I want to be a kid forever, I'm only eating Trix! Everyone's loving it? I love it! What's it? Who cares, I love so I love it! I'm going to eat at McDonald's for the rest of my life! Marketing is marketing, just accept it and don't get all huffy puffy when your "I was only being somewhat facetious but not because I feel like someone may get duped and I want to stand up for the little guy" post gets a response that you don't like. Gambit21 Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 (edited) I get the marketing aspect, and I'm not disagreeing with you. All I basically said was (in a 2 paragraph long-winded way) is that it's conceivable that in this day of amazing 3D game graphics, it's conceivable that some might construe the video as in-game graphics and purchase accordingly. All the points you made about further research being an "of course" but people are people. Anyway no worries - we're all on the same side here. Edited July 25, 2014 by Gambit21
