Multiple users, multiple windows loggings, multiple devices, key bindings FUBAR

I'm running two copies of IL2 on two separate shared machines. I have my preferred key bindings and my son has his.  (i think) If we are not consistent which username we log into windows and then run IL2 on the bindings run interference on each other.  Does anyone else experience this? What happens is I will rebind certain inputs and they act erratically or not at all in the manner I just bound them. The addition of different profiles awhile back was my long awaited hope of making things easier but im afraid in my experience they have only gotten more jumbled.  Im guessing the way windows/il2/steam does its file structure is what is causing the problem but im very much an end user and not a software engineer.  Has anyone else experienced this or have any advice on a workable solution?  Many thanks.
