Guest deleted@219798 Posted November 27, 2022 Posted November 27, 2022 Is it getting too easy to set fire to an enemy plane or kill a pilot?
BlitzPig_EL Posted November 30, 2022 Posted November 30, 2022 No. The average lifespan of a new pilot at the front was something on the order of two weeks. If anything, pilot deaths and aircraft fires in the past in this sim were far too low. The real issue is the fact that sim pilots in many cases have 20+ years of "combat" experience under their belts whereas real military pilots had only 4 or 5 years, if they were lucky, or very very good. We also are not fearing for our lives, not strung out on speed balls to keep us awake and in the fight, we are not under nourished, nor suffering from any of the ills of simply working in a hostile environment. In short we "fly" in perfect conditions, in mechanically perfect aircraft, and are always warm, comfortable, and well fed. That's why it's so easy for us, and why sims can never come close to reality. Relax and enjoy our little game, because that's what it really is. A game.
Guest deleted@219798 Posted December 1, 2022 Posted December 1, 2022 Yeah a lot of RFC pilots in Bloody April had flying experience measured in hours not years. Also mostly I only fire from close range 100m or often less making pilot kills or fires more likely. At least broken wings less frequent now.
