BlitzPig_EL Posted November 27, 2022 Posted November 27, 2022 ... Wow!! It's fun again! I've built a dogfight mission on the new map with bases close to each other, as requested by a couple of my BlitzPig mates. I populated the entire map with a template that SYN_Vander uploaded, then filled in the details like front lines, ground targets, AI flights etc... And flew it by myself for testing as everyone else is occupied with family this weekend. What a hoot!! Fighting the AI without walking on eggshells worrying about ripping the wings off. Attacking ground targets without the same fear, well except for really exceeding Vmax with the DH4 and ripping the wings off in an *AHEM* over optimistic pull out. (Too much time in P40s doing ground attack). Watched AI Breguets attack the German aerodrome while their escorts tangled with Dr.1s flying CAP. Then taking off in a Pfalz D3 and helping the Dr.1s deal with the Spads, then flying south and tried to help some AI D3s that were in a tussle with a flight of Tripes. What a good time. Historical? Nope. Who cares? The fun is back and isn't that why we fly our pixel planes in the first place? I do need to work out a profile for the old kites though, my shaky old hands and old CH stick are a bit too sensitive compared to the WW2 birds. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. 5 2
jollyjack Posted November 28, 2022 Posted November 28, 2022 As for the new FC2 map area, what do you think? At times i feel Rise of Flight even looks better somehow?: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FC2 new map: RoF 5
BlitzPig_EL Posted November 28, 2022 Author Posted November 28, 2022 What do you expect for a map that has been clearly presented as a work in progress???? I never liked the RoF map. It looked like a water color done by an impressionist painter high on Absinthe. 1 1
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted November 28, 2022 Posted November 28, 2022 (edited) This is person opinion but ROF map is much better as colors, light, gamma, contrast etc , the pastel feel actually is great. ROF graphics were made by artist, FC is just work without feel. When I fly and look down at ROF map I think it is nice to watch, butifful , this is not case when i looked at FC map. kendo Posted November 28, 2022 Posted November 28, 2022 (edited) Have to agree with Blitzpig_El on this. I was always (and still am) of the 'God awful washed out pastels' view of ROF i'm afraid. Not to mention the Walt Disney style 'little fluffy white clouds'. Bless! It was great in a whole host of other ways and I got a lot of enjoyment from it, but very happy to have moved on. jollyjack Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 I like impressionism, my dad was such a painter. Sometimes too overdone kodak colors with IL2 makes me think of the Shire ..
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted November 29, 2022 Posted November 29, 2022 ROF is more like this, but FC is not.

Oyster_KAI Posted November 30, 2022 Posted November 30, 2022 (edited) I just don't like that there are too many elements and textures in the FC map that share with the WWII world. Really miss the very well-harmonized shades in the ROF. ROF's beautiful GUI is epic as well, but I'm pessimistic that we won't be able to get something like this again...? jollyjack Posted November 30, 2022 Posted November 30, 2022 Don't forget also the large 3rd party RoF input. Map edits, Zeppelin, especially those from Syn_Vander like them amazing horses ...
