I Have No Missions and I Must Scream

This problem has perplexed at least two discords and the six people, including myself, who have all tried to fix this. So I turn to you all in my time of need with this bug. I have followed the download every step of the way, downloading the newest version, putting it into the right root folder, changing the game so it logs missions, putting in my planes owned, and at least for Flying Circus (the one I wanna play), downloading all of the skins. But when I boot up the game and go into the missions folder, the PWCG folder doesn't appear.

This is my current missions folder, followed by what is inside my current PWCG folder. I have tried to delete ctree/mtree cache files to see they've worked, and tried to delete .list and .msnbin files to see if that would help. Neither have and I am still stuck on the PWCG folder and it's missions not appearing in my missions directory.

I have even tried to put the campaign mission into the built-in mission generator and saving it to see if that would work. That mission has long been deleted but it wouldn't show up in my mission directory anyways.

My other problem, which seems to dovetail into this problem, is that custom skins and the like *also* don't seem to be working. As I have said previously I have downloaded the entirety of the FC skin packs and none of them seem to be working either. I do have custom skins enabled.

I also have them installed to the right folders inside of IL-2's directory.

I *believe* all of these are all part of the same root problem. I have a hunch that whatever is causing the missions to not show in the missions folder is also causing the skins to not show in the skins folder. That being said however, I do not know what the root cause would be. That is why I turn to you all for help. Because, frankly, I am at my wits end and I feel myself slowly receding into insanity as whatever problem prevails me persists.

It looks like your root directory is different from the usual. Normally the "Il-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad" folder would be in "steamapps\common\", but yours is just in "steamapps". Doesn't seem like it should matter--the game should just do everything relative to its own root directory--but maybe moving the whole thing to "steamapps\common\" might be worth a shot anyway if you haven't already tried it.

You could also try downloading some other missions, or generating them with Vander's, and see if those show up--that would narrow down whether this is an issue with PWCG or the base game.

And if you have any mods installed, you might try unchecking "enable mods" and launching the game without them, just in case they're fouling things up somehow. That shouldn't affect the game's ability to read either custom skins or custom missions.

Very outside possibility, I've a friend who somehow managed to end up with a steam and a non steam install of IL2. He'd install mods etc and then wonder why they didn't work. It took a very, very long session on TS to sort it out. Is it possible you're in the same situation? Have you accidently copied the IL2 folder from common to steamapps and so effectively have two sets of IL2 files?

As a test - do your custom skins work in AQMB or the viewer? Eg can you create a quick mission with a spad13 and select one of the custom skins?

If you cannot then it would seem like they are not installed correctly from the point of view of the game exe.

Since you have a steam install - if you right click on IL2 in your library and take the manage and browse local files options, where do you end up? What is the path showing at the top of windows explorer? Is it Steam\steamapps\common\\IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles or something else?

If you ONLY have the FC1 Steam version IMO it's best to buy it in the sale now again from IL2 direct.

I did something like that in the past, too many issues with steam. Also why i never play Cliffs, every time there is aomething amiss due steam.

Apologies for the confusion, but, are you trying to create a coop campaign?  I ask because you mention 6 people.  I'm not sure if they are members of your coop group or just people that are trying to help.

If coop, did you designate the campaign to be coop when you created it?  It looks like the missions are going to the single player folder (data\missions\pwcg).  Coop missions should be going into "data\Multiplayer\Cooperative".

If you are trying to create a single player campaign then 99.9% of the time the reason for a mission not showing is that you do not own the plane that is designated as the player plane.  If we're talking SPADs, for instance, maybe PWCG is putting you in a SPAD VII (FC2) and you actually own only FC1 (SPAD XIII).  If you suspect  that this is not the case then try opening the PWCG mission in the ME.  If the mission is malformed the ME should reject it.

Oh my god.

I just tried this and got it working finally. I am not the smartest knife in the spoon pile. Yeah it was totally just because it was in the wrong part of the directory that I've been putting off cleaning forever.
