Bloyamind Posted November 25, 2022 Posted November 25, 2022 After playing for quite a bit I haven't dared do missions apart from trying once or twice because some fundamentals I can't seem to get clear. And my brain needs some clarity :). This question goes for all realistic flight sims, but at some point I want to dive into theOden's dynamic campaign. How do you go about missions and campaigns? My (gamer)brain is wired to look for some win-state, but is there one? If not, is it just a question of participating and surviving, regardless of if you're even in the neighborhood of the action, whether you even use your guns or not? The obvious second problem is fuel and ammo. You're never gonna get all those bombers yourself. At best a few, and then you're out of ammo. Is it out of your hands at that point? And then what do you do? Land and quit? Perhaps the answer is obvious, but i've felt lost regardless of briefings. Thanks!
9./JG52_J-HAT Posted November 25, 2022 Posted November 25, 2022 You will never be able down all of them, or stop all of them from dropping their bombs etc. It is about what you can do (like you say, down a few and you are out of ammo) and preferably try to land back at your field or at least in friendly territory. So you try not to die and ideally bring your aircraft back. Or if you want to shoot all down or as many as you can until you are shot down or killed, just play with infinite ammo. For me it‘s about staying alive and getting back and doing what you can while achieving that. It is ok to run away if outnumbered of in a disadvantageous initial situation. Like I said above, you will never win them all. I don‘t play offline campaigns though. I try to do it online (TWC or ATAG death stats) when I’m in the mood. 1
Sokol1 Posted November 25, 2022 Posted November 25, 2022 Single Player campaigns require that you "roleplay" a bit, but the shallow support of the game for SP contribute negative for this. You don't have notice about you squadron mates performance, of your squadron, of your side... missions are just individual matches not tied in between and without consequence. You can shoot down a whole flight of Stukas but no one will no one will greet you, you will not receive a medal, you will not receive a promotion... In the original game campaign they try - and fail, add this "RPG" with uninspired dialogs, that are just boring. 1 1
Bloyamind Posted November 25, 2022 Author Posted November 25, 2022 Thanks guys, I was thinking a bit in this direction. I do like to immerse myself/roleplay a bit.
