All,

Am currently trying for the 2nd time to download and install Battle for Stalingrad. It is agonizingly slow. Also, huge. I didn't realize I needed to have Great Battles along with it. I have had IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 on this comp and a zillion mods, so no problem with enough room.

Any ideas why this is taking so long? Thanks.

All,

Am now on my 5TH download and update try. Total BS. Have done all the FAQ crap asked for. Created an Administrator account, etc. Pain in the butt. Have sent THREE support requests, got nada back. Nice work Admins. The current download (via the Administrator side), is even SLOWER than the normal side of my Comp. It is amazing how badly this game is supported. Probably going to bail on it and reinstall 1946. I know IT runs.

Yes, my computer is more than capable of running this game, so it's not that. My internet connection is the fastest available. This is on you, guys.

How big is "huge" and how slow is "slow"?

Hey Bud,

Huge is 45+ Gigs and slow is 5 hours.

As of today, I have tried 5 times to install the download package. I have done everything the FAQs recommend - got nada. Creating an Administrator account and running it there - even slower install - more than 5 hours and then I still get "Failure to Update". My Internet connection is very fast. Most stuff I download is quick, as in 20 minutes or so. Have heard back ZERO from Support. Are they sending word by Carrier Pidgeon?

Am close to asking for a refund and bagging the whole thing. 1946 was fantastic. Just because it's "New and Improved" doesn't mean it's better.

It's too bad. Was really looking forward to getting in the air again.

Size sounds normal IIRC. From the 5h download time it appears you are downloading with 20Mbps, which sounds like the speed you get with an ADSL2 connection.

If you know for a fact that the downlink speed on your connection is faster than that then the only explanations are that you are getting a slow route to the content distribution server or for some reason you are getting assigned to one that is not appropriate for your region. For the latter you could try restarting your connection to get a different IP,  for the former not much you can do.

Brother,

Agreed.

Once I figured out it's the whole game setup, not just Battle for Stalingrad, I figured it might be the Distribution server itself. Not sure what I can do about it.

This is the issue with not having the game on disk but running from a primary game server setup like Steam.

Would be nice if the Support Guys actually hit me back. (Sigh).

Thanks for your input.

Not exactly sure what you are doing wrong.

I get full 350 MBs speeds when I am downloading.

You do know IL2 GB is one game right?
Stalingrad is one of many packs that contain planes and single player missions.
And access to all maps in multiplayer.

It also sounds like you are downloading it from steam which this company has no control over.
