Bomber Formation Flying

Perhaps the C-47 will caused a boost of interest in the topic.  "Bomber" and cargo planes need more specific AI to enable more appropriate formation flying, and ability to fly more typical formations like the sets of 3.

 

I get the impression the AI is the same as fighters, resulting in reckless behavior, and likely would've resulted in multiple collisions.

Would be great if:

• AI flight leads perform turns and altitude management more appropriate for leading multi engine aircraft formations (ie, no hard banking diving turns to dump down toward next lower waypoint).
• AI planes following the lead can better maintain their station when those suitable turns are performed by lead.
• AI has ability to fly a 3 sets of 3 planes formations (likely requires previous 2 items to work)

Absolutely agree with that.

We need realistic formations, not these fighters’ formations only
