About landing gear legs, ground behaviour and vibrations

Hello folks, I'm not sure whether this has ever been raised before, but one of the things that I find are still not convincing is the physics of landing gear suspensions: there seems to be no "bounce" to the legs, there is obviously compression and extension of the stems, but the aircraft still feel like they're hanging from a tread instead of actually putting weight on the legs.
Years ago, in the glorious SAS 1946 forum, a user called JapanCat made some substantial upgrades to the Bf109 family, and one of the things he did was softening the landing gear suspension response, all of a sudden we had aircraft that did behave like the real thing, with torque roll when giving throttle, with bouncing and with wing vibration on the ground (and again torque roll observable when giving bursts of throttle when stationary).
I'd be curious to know what are the parameters involved in the landing gear modelling, and if there's anything that can be done to improve on what is already a FM that is almost there, but not quite yet.

Good post. The 109 is far too easy to takeoff and land and I suspect it's partially because of an unrealistically strong undercarriage.

Also you can literally drop any plane in the sim on its landing gear and unless there's lateral forces involved they will not get damaged in the least.

I remember a few years ago, landings were quite difficult with some places bouncing a lot on landing. This behaviour was then changed.

Making a very ugly landing on purpose?
Still can't break the landing gear... so I'm a bit disappointed.

As I recall, I believe the issue is that hydraulic or pneumatic damage to the landing gears is not modelled in the game. Apparently, this has been on a wishlist of "features" to be developed for the sim for a long time, but the Devs never got around to it.

Well I hope they do see this and address the issue, since we're striving for realism! Ground handling and behaviour is very much part of the flying experience, the realistic bounces and dampening can definitely affect the way we land, takeoff etc...
