Leftenant_Soap Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 (edited) Dear 1CGS, The tactical code system introduced in update 5.002 is very nice, but I would like to request additional features to expand its utility. In specific, with regard to Luftwaffe fighter aircraft: They would benefit from the addition of another slot which would be closest to the tail of the aircraft. So looking from the side of the aircraft there would be 4 slots, 2 on each side of the Balkenkreuz: _ _+_ _ In order to replicate a) 2-digit tactical codes, and b) historical Kennzeichen (4-letter tac codes used by factories and many non-combat squadrons): The slot closest to the nose (slot 1) could have alphanumeric options added to the current choices of chevron, double chevron, and triangle The adjacent slot between slot 1 and the Balkenkreuz (slot 2) could have its current choices in addition to those of slot 1 (chevrons) Why? Because in some cases the Gruppe commander's chevron was directly next to the Balkenkreuz, for example see Hans Philipp's Bf 109 F-4 scheme. The proposed new slot closest to the tail (slot 4) would have the same code choices as slot 3. Currently, the Luftwaffe fighter tac codes are mirrored across both sides of the fuselage. This makes sense when using the Gruppe officer markings but not numbers or letters. So either the left/right codes will have to be decoupled or special logic for alphanumeric codes will be needed to make 2-digit and 4-letter codes (or any alphanumeric combination) appear correctly. The addition of these features would also be a very handy resource for many virtual squadrons that use their own squadron numbers, or anyone else who just wants to fly with personalized tac codes. Stammkennzeichen resource Examples: Example of 2-digit tac codes: Example of chevrons next to Balkenkreuz: Thanks for considering! Edited November 20, 2022 by DD_Soapy 1
