Ken5421 Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 Hi What is Steam? This is online gaming as opposed to downloading and installing correct? Is it better or the same? I'm having massive problems running Sturmovik at the moment on my PC. So many issues. I have already purchased all the different games that go with Battle of Stalingrad. I assume if I went with Steam I would have to purchase again and cannot transfer them over? Ken
Skycat1969 Posted November 17, 2022 Posted November 17, 2022 Steam is a popular gaming sales and streaming platform owned by Valve Corporation. I believe 1C Game's decision to offer a version of Battle of Stalingrad on Steam was done so to increase the game's market reach. However, the Steam version is slightly different in architecture to comply with Valve's DLC structure. Pros of Steam: You can choose to have your games updated in the background so they'll be ready to launch when you want to play. Some say the Steam server is faster. Cons: You MUST buy Battle of Stalingrad on Steam. All other content is "DLC" for Stalingrad. You can merge the content you've purchased at the website; BUT when you can only own Stalingrad at one source or the other. I doubt you'll be able to link your accounts if you already own Stalingrad purchased at the website. I have both the Steam and the Web versions installed and I really haven't noticed a difference between the two once I'm inside the game. 1

It's was one of the first on PC and its one of the most popular storefronts for a massive array of titles from indie games to triple-A releases. Yes, if you went over to buying from Steam you'd need to purchase again. Although you haven't specified what the problem is, its unlikely that buying it from a different storefront is going to help you out. Post a technical description of the issues that you're having over in the Tech Support forum and folks there are usually good at sorting things out. But be sure to give a descriptive overview so they can help you sort out the problem. 1
RossMarBow Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 (edited) I think as long as you have stalingrad on steam you can link your normal account with your steam account. I don't think already owning stalingrad on your account will stop you linking with steam. But I know for sure you have to own stalingrad on steam Also probably steam isn't going to fix your problems. You probably have something wrong with your pc /internet Edited November 21, 2022 by RossMarBow
IndianJones Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 One thing I've noticed with having some items from the Steam store and others from the official store, is that sometimes when opening IL-2 any items I've purchased from the official store will be missing - it can take a couple of restarts before they reappear. It's not a huge problem but it can be a bit annoying! 1
