DN308 Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Hello everyone, is there somewhere a tutorial to learn how to use properly the bombsight? Never been able to put my bombs on target with it… Shame on me

Never been able to put my bombs on target with it… Shame on me Go the Flashcards, if I'm not mistaken it's on pages 30, 31 and 33. Don't know how to find the Flashcards ? Go the game and on the main menu click on "Manuals": you'll be ready to directly open the Flashcards (choosing a language out of a nice array of possibilities). The second page is the summary of aircraft, click on the Wellington Mk.I and you'll easily find the bombing tutorial. Bonne chance 1
56RAF_Stickz Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 there is actually a youtube video on using the mkxiv bombsight works. There is a link for it on the atag forum under ATAG flight school. I assume you mean the more automated wellington bombsight which is the xiv. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQC130kqgDc . Basically you only had to enter the target altitude above sea level, it got the rest from its computer apart from the wind The earlier versions used same simple version as the blenheim which is also modelled. The following link may also help you, although it has a lot of extra info on it. On top of that also on ATAG is a section devoted to the wellington operation. However its a private section so you would need permission to enter (the wellington squadron had their own area to discuss training and missions so kept private) https://www.blunham.com/Radar/SignalsMuseum/PDFs/MiscAPs/BombSightXIV.pdf Hope both these links work. The only other thoings needed are to set salvo (wow many per release press) or single drop. 2
DN308 Posted November 15, 2022 Author Posted November 15, 2022 Thank you so much So far I used only the previous version. I will go to work on it.
56RAF_Stickz Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 for the previous manual bomb sight, one thing that for most of us appeared to give greater accuracy was to input IAS rather than TAS. It should be TAS but in both the blennie and welliie a lot of us found using IAS gave superior accuracy 1 1
