Problem with mirrored textures on HurricaneMkII

G'day,

I've struck a problem with mirrored textures while doing Battle of France skins for the Hurricane. By mirrored I mean that one part of the main texture is used on two parts of the Hurricane model (It is actually used on three parts of the model in this case. There is also another part duplicated but that is another story.)

The RAF used a black and white identification marking underneath the aircraft which unfortunately highlights the problem. The one undercarriage part in a single location (Yellow) of the main texture which is duplicated onto the model in two places causing the problem.

There is however space on the main texture to have two separate instances of the part? To fix it would mean revisiting the model UV unwrap and posting an update. (Unlike the BF109 problem which has propergated throughout all the models and would be a much bigger task.)

I am hoping that this problem will be fixed and that mirroring is kept to necessary parts.

Cheers,

This has been called up on several occasions and unfortunately it hasn't been addressed. To be honest I think it'll probably stay that way and we'll just have to make do.

To be fair it was only used from 1938 up until June 1940, half white half black, for observation of friendly aircraft from the ground and this would discount the MkII from this colourscheme in reality as it was introduced at exactly this time. The Mk1 was the one that bore the two-colour underside.

I agree that it probably won't be fixed so I guess it is pointless bringing up the SpitfireMkVb mirrored textures.

for the black and white Hurricane underwing the only solution I found is to paint the small part (in yellow on your picture) in aluminium or skytypeS (black and white was an overpaint), like if this part was replaced… it’s not wonderful but look better than a black in the white or a white in the black…
