I'm trying to copy and paste my spitfire loadout for all variants, but when i went to the user.ini file, there is no text in it? What can I do to fix it?

Hi bonzomcdrumcat,

where is this empty user.ini located? In which folder?

You said in the other thread you have started the game runs fine.

That means there must be a correct user.ini somewhere.

Do you use Steam Cloud?

How did you set your loadout?

The file is located under documents/1csoftclub/il2clod/user. The game is running fine, which is what confuses me. I belive it uses steam cloud, although i wouldnt know what it would do to affect it

That path seems odd- by "user" to you mean user.ini or another folder?

The only way I know to set a loadout is by accessing multiplayer. It cant be done directly in SP (perhpas via the mission editor). Did you do it in MP?

"user" is the name of the .ini file, it is located in il2clod. I was trying to get it to work in quick missions, as I am still trying to get used to the ballistics and takeoff/landing before I jump into campaigns. I saw someone saying that if you copy and paste the loadout in the .ini file, you can give it to every aircraft with the same type and number of guns, so you dont have to do it for every variant.

If Steam Cloud is enabled, configuration files that the games uses are not stored on the disk in your PC but on some Cloud server.

That could explain why user.ini in your Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover is empty. Your game does not use that user.ini you looked at.

I think it is possible to change a gun loadout the way you described. But if your game uses user.ini which is stored on some Cloud server, you can't edit it directly - using Notepad etc. That's one of the reasons why it is recommended to disable Steam Cloud and other not necessary Steam services.

I recommend you reading Getting started and troubleshooting guide provided with the game. There are many good recommendations there.

You need to do it on a server to set the load out for the user ini. SP wont save it. Dont worry about going online - just pick an airfield out of the way - The TFS server has all the types. All you need to do it set the loadout, save it (and any custom names) then back out to the map screen and click "create" - as soon as you spawn in the loadout is saved and you can exit. After that you can edit the number in the user.ini or repeat and do it in game.

On later aircraft the name of the guns change so be careful to know which a blitz aircraft and which are Tobruk ones (if you have the DLC)

the loadout should look something like this (mines Ap and De-wilde with a little tracer) - all distances are in metres - the first number is the horizonaal convergergence and the second is the vertical.

Hope this helps - id send you my full ini but this forum wont allow me to attach the file. I can send it to you in a PM if you want it.

I should add that Im not sure if this transfers over to all/any stock single player missions. Been a while since I delved into clod. Im pretty sure that it doesn’t alter the loadouts in campaigns.
