354thFG_Drewm3i-VR Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 Look promising! VelocityOne Rudder Pedals For Flight & Racing Simulation | Turtle Beach – Turtle Beach® VelocityOne Flight Stick Control Xbox & PC | Turtle Beach – Turtle Beach® 1
[CPT]Crunch Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 Ouch, throw in an extra $30 and get a real set from Virpil. No way plastic stuff is worth that much. The flight stick might be OK for the price point, but the rudders are severely over priced. I got my all metal virpils for 299.90 including shipping when on sale a few weeks back replacing some siateks which are about in the same class as these turtle beach pedals, no comparison in feel, function, and quality. 2
354thFG_Drewm3i-VR Posted November 14, 2022 Author Posted November 14, 2022 FYI, these pedals have metal internal components and use magnetic sensors, not potentiometers. They are also feature adjustable width and can adjust tension. Early reviews say they're WAY better than the Logitech pedals.
1Sascha Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 (edited) The website and its general layout reminds me of Thrustmaster's ... do Turtle Beach belong to Guillemot these days? The stick looks a bit meh, TBH, but without having handled it, I couldn't tell. I think I'd still stick with the VKB Gladiator Evo in this segment of the market. Might be a bit pricier if you want a comparable amount of buttons/functions, but it'd take quite a lot to convince me that this TB-stick is worth its price-tag. Especially without having seen its innards - which they don't seem to show on the site. The pedals remind me a bit of the Saitek Pro ones (now Logitech-branded I believe?). Still... at $300, those things are dangerously close to the MFG Crosswinds I use... and I doubt that an all plastic set of pedals will be as pleasant to use as those things. Heck.. if you can live without toe-brakes, you can get VKB's all metal pedals for "just" €215 plus €10 shipping over here in Europe. S. Edited November 14, 2022 by 1Sascha
[CPT]Crunch Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 Yeah, the video of them being gingerly babied ain't very convincing, lets see some real rudder kicks. This guy doing a side by side comes to the conclusion they're in the same category feel and usage wise. One being found at half the price. Granted the Siateks/logitechs aren't all bad, used a set many years myself, but they're not in the virpil class, not even close. 1
354thFG_Drewm3i-VR Posted November 15, 2022 Author Posted November 15, 2022 No offense, but I'm hoping someone has firsthand experience. I know VKB, Virpil, and Crosswinds are well-regarded, but something more intuitive and modular that can be bought from a big box store is appealing. I really like the idea of a width adjustment and the cabling/interface also looks top notch. I've had a bunch of Logitech stuff over the years and it's always been junk and has tended to fail at the cable connectors, sensors, and circuit boards. Having a display with info on the stick is also nice and having three levers and a trim wheel on the stick would allow me to part with my HOTAS and save space on my small desk. FYI, they're also offering 10% off so they'd only be $270. Crosswinds with the damper are $350ish, which is steep and the heavy metal pedals would be harder to store when not in use.

Hope spring eternal, but it will be years before experience is going to judge long term reliability, at least; even short term reliability will require some time to establish. May as well bite the bullet and buy if interested. It's only money.

Clunky, not very precise and the opposite of "smooth", really. I went right back to my ancient CH ones and let the Saiteks collect dust on my shelf. S.
dburne Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 Interesting that Turtle Beach would be entering the peripheral market for such a niche hobby.

I was working as a reviewer for a PC gaming mag at the time and Saitek sent them over as a review sample... which I then kept for myself, since nobody else on the team was into flight-sims... The only plastic pedals I've tried that I liked were those CH Pro Pedals I mentioned. Even bought a gameport-to-USB converter back in the day to be able to keep using them. None of the plastic ones I've ever owned or tried come close to the MFG Crosswinds though. Love those things and I will never go back to a plastic set of pedals. S.

While some of the stuff sounds kinda, sorta fixable with a bit of tinkering and Nyogel, most of it sounds like I'd probably throw this thing at the wall after a short while. Plus you really shouldn't have to tinker with a brand new product just to make it usable - but that's just me... S.
Lusekofte Posted November 18, 2022 Posted November 18, 2022 As I understand it they work on PC and Xbox If no need for latter I would not touch this until someone knowing hardware have tested them
skline00 Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 drewm3i-VR, just got my TurtleBeach rudder pedals 4 days ago. They are BIG but very nice. I wanted them to pair with my VelocityOne flight yoke and throttle. Have been using Saitek Pro pedals for years. VERY nice and robust Rudder pedals.
