Nutjob Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 I just re-downloaded IL-2, and it takes up 108gb of space. That seems like an unusually large amount. Is that just how large the game is now? The minimum system requirements on the il-2 website say it only requires 27gb of free storage space.
Stonehouse Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 182GB here but that includes mods and 3rd party skins so not sure what a standard install is.
BOO Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 Mines barebones (not user skins etc) and its 67.9GB
Nutjob Posted November 2, 2022 Author Posted November 2, 2022 I haven't downloaded any mods or skins either... Weird that the file size would be different.
CountZero Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 fresh downloded game should be around 67GB, check your updates folder in main game folder, maybe it has data from download there. Their system requirements are not up to date for years now. 1
Nutjob Posted November 2, 2022 Author Posted November 2, 2022 My data folder is 67GB, but the update folder is 41GB. Will the game be fine if I delete the contents that folder to free up space?

Leve other small files so when you start lancher next time it dosent analaise game data again for nothing. 1
Nutjob Posted November 3, 2022 Author Posted November 3, 2022 Thank you! Much more space on my computer now.
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 (edited) You can also delete audio with radio communication, I found it just spam. Same with old track, logs, missions and screenshot, unofficial skin also take some space. Edited November 3, 2022 by 1PL-Husar-1Esk
DD_Friar Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Just a heads up - the audio files get re-installed at each update. A few of my squad delete the files to stop all the inane chatter from the AI when we fly co-ops.
CountZero Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Yes if you remove or rename anything in data folder, when you have update or lanch lancher it will think you dont have it so it will redownload it.
DocJMB Posted November 24, 2022 Posted November 24, 2022 A “stupid” question from a PC newbie - I live in the Mac world…. What is the path to the Main Game folder/data folder/updates folder? Where can I go to learn what should / shouldn’t be in the Main Game folder? Thanx!
