Small problem with MS Force Feed back joystick:

It tends not to start working until 30+ seconds or more in game play for any plane. It can be very inconvenient. Unlike GB or Il-2 there doesn't seem to be a check off for FFB.Have I missed something?

Never really used FFB in CloD but there is an entry in confuser.ini (one of the inis if not that one) for ffb=1 (default). If you set it to 0 I‘d assume it turns it off.

-> see Josef‘s post below with the correct ini and entry.

Maybe there is something in this thread and in the links there?

Hi Blitzen

if you want to disable force feedback, open conf.ini in your Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover folder and search for section [rts_joystick].
FF=1 enables force feedback.

FF=0 disables it.

Found the entry and it is already FF+1

When Force Feedback effect is absent, a way to recover it is to pull stick to go up and slow down the aircraft speed, the force feedback effect comes back when around 300 Km/h.

In BLITZ/TOBRUK, the FFB effects is notably in that it provides a cue to airflow over the wing surfaces and controls surfaces and thus lift.

The intensity of the FFB is directly related to the lift generated.

So the more lift, the more intensity from the stick.

At normal or higher speeds, and especially at higher angles of attack, more lift is generated... but as speed drops and the wing/control surfaces lose lift and approach stall, and the stick becomes slack and unresponsive.... mimicing a real life stick in an aircraft approaching stall.

When you start the Sim, the game has to reset its calibration as to where current lift is in the aircraft it is simulating FFB effect for.  So there is the initial moment where you can have no effect.  The way to fix that is as Mikmak says, to introduce large amounts of lift into the equation.... by pulling the aircraft into a hard turn... the Sim will then recognize the input and FFB will appear.

Yep, I always use the method described by Mikmak.

Good to know, you need to (re)do this if you "leave" your flight by hitting the ESC key and back to the cockpit (to change some settings or else) after.
