What going on with the AI aircraft in FC?

The last two updates have really wrecked the AI behavior in Flying Circus.  The FC AI now all do this swoopy vertical climb and dive nonsense, which make sniping their pilots all too easy.  They really don't bother to directly engage you, it looks that they're all busy posturing for the 'perfect shot' which makes killing them all too easy regardless of the AI's difficulty setting.  Also, seems the AI have no problems turning towards a collision path (aka the Big Bullet) if your not being careful to avoid it. All the missions I wrote to present a balanced and difficult multiplayer challenge are now almost uselessly easy.  Anyone else been noticing this?  Just might have to post a problem report about this.

The AI was never terribly life-like in FC. |But yes, it seems a little worse to me lately, from the limited time I've played FC lately, it did seem a little worse(?). If you're playing a lot of single player against AI, I'd look into Wings Over Flanders Fields. I see FC mainly as for multiplayer, if you can tolerate the DM issues.

I agree. It's a lot worse than it used to me. I did a duel with a novice Albatross D.V, and all it did was one loop after another. It really didn't seem to want to attack me.

Has anyone submitted a bug report?

I no longer fly FC if you want a good WW1 sim then there is only one WOFF, and you do not have to go online buy it and keep for ever.

Village idiots and simpletons laugh at anything regardless of content. That's a fact.

You can get VR running with VORPX.  That's what I have done.  Vastly better plane set, flight model, damage model.  Not so good on the sound front and graphics are of course not as good, but it's a much better experiance.

Can you post a video of that? I’ve played woff and I find it hard to believe that’s possible given how bad performance is.

Adding a third-party VR app over the top is not likely to improve performance any, either.

Waddaya mean? Runs fine for me. But I don't do VR nor am I that picky about things unless it's a buggy mess like FC. The only thing that really annoys me is the cloud flashing.

I flew WOFF many years ago, before even Rise of Flight was released.  No way would I want to digress that much, plus VR is now an essential.  If I ignore the wonky FC AI for now, I get by fine (of course I fly BoX too).  IMO FC is the crippled step brother of BoX that only gets the table scraps, if there are any.

What sort of interesting about the current FC AI behavior is that it does remind me somewhat of the AI behavior I remember in WOFF, where the usual defensive AI maneuvers were endless Immelmann-like climbs and dives.

Outdated flight physics, pass.

13 or so years ago is a long time and much has changed Acid Bath.  WoFF is really rather good these days but nothing is perfect. VR I'm sure is fab but as a casual gamer I'm not about to spend a small fortune on a supercomputer to run it. I have Scottish ancestry. Adding the expense of the clunky, uncomfortable looking goggles seals it. I like the freedom of head tracking where I can keep one eye on my money and the other on the missus.

This game is fast as light playing it in my computer. Vorpx is very good application played it with Star Citizen with good VR fps.

What? What are you playing WOFF on, a potato?

Snarky comments aside the performance is fine.  VORPX just emulates mouse look.  It's quite zoomed in but you get used to it.

Better than obviously broken and unenjoyable flight physics in FC, in my opinion.

Get rid of the missus, thats the answer here.  Sell the missus, buy a vr headset with the proceedes, make use of your Scottish ancestry by consuming vast and unhealthy quantities of whiskey to numb the pain and your sorted.

Not trying to be snarky, just genuinely want to see what it looks like, from what you’re saying I take vorpx is just allowing you to turn your head in 3d not actual VR?

Oh ah, I meant my snarky comments, not yours ;) Context is hard to communicate in the interwebs.

But yes - vorpx effectively allows you to turn your head.  I thought that using vorpx that it would be just like looking at a 2d screen but with a chonky headset on, but I've found it actually does give you a 3d image - quite amazing really.  Is it as good as FC? No, but it is so much better than 2d. You still get depth perception quite effectively.  The thing that struck me the most is how the gauges wobble around all over the place, something I didnt notice so much in 2d, and something that is completley missing in FC.

I'll try to grab a video and share my vorpx settings over the weekend.
