I dont know why would they do Burma or anything not involving Zero in their first expansion to Asia. If they plan to do anything in Asia but cant do carriers, why pick wors options then Guadalcanal or New Guinea or anything els where you can start with Zero vs American navy/marine stuff and no carriers, why start with worst option and risk not enticing enough players to buy it so you cant do then PTO. Also when they say PTO im sure they count whole asia part of war into that.

I agree with Count here. Sorry, Blitz.

I just don't see the first entry into the Pacific--anywhere in the Pacific, including CBI--not including a Zero.

You hook people with the iconic planes first. Give them that sweet, sweet taste from the top shelf. Then, once they've got delirium tremens and need the next hit, you give them rotgut like the Ki-21.

So. Here is how it appears to work. Well for me at least.
Computers and graphics = continual improvements.
Gaming = pretty much the same.
Monitors = As above.
TrackIR = cannot play on a fixed monitor again.
VR =  cannot play with TrackIR or fixed monitor again.

Do you know why I and many others gravitate towards these titles?
Escape and IMMERSION.

The current title works. And if you are going to remain in the lead, you have to push boundaries.
The current engine works. Remember the engine is not generic, but appears to be their own, so it can be constantly upgraded. Many titles buy into an existing engine and stall on it.

All I am saying, is in the interest of progress, give these guys a chance to work with the product. They have already gone way above and beyond what most of us paid for when the title was first released, title and engine wise.

Cheers.

Plus  rewriting it's core and adjusting all content would be a mess and results would be worse (performance, stability etc.)  than start from beginning and integrate new  core concepts as fundamentals not retro fit.  All software has a limited life cycle as it was started with now old technology  limitations and concepts. It's good that one can outgrown  self from the past.

Not true. Case in point: Microsoft. Windows 11 is basically an upgraded, slightly rewritten version of Windows 10, which is basically an upgraded, slightly rewritten version of Windows 8, which is basically an upgraded, slightly rewritten version of Windows 7, which is basically an upgraded, slightly rewritten version of Windows Vista, which is basically an upgraded, slightly rewritten version of Windows XP, which is basically an upgraded, slightly rewritten version of Windows 2000, which is basically an upgraded, slightly rewritten version of Windows NT from all the way back in 1993.

Now, I won't say Windows is the pinnacle of Operating System development. But it at least shows that it is often commercially more interesting to upgrade existing stuff, rather than start again. It also kinda calls in question your statements about the limited life cycle of software, as that of Windows is approaching 30 years now :)

Everything is same in their last stream and DD, exept now ppl pay more atention to frasing as there is no Jason. But in past Han was always saying same in regards of DLCs or new stuff, and it never ment new game or new game engine.

I think in the past Jason was more clear and upfront about everything. Could be a translation issue who knows.  Except when he would tease us with secret codes for us to figure out what he is talking about.

They say the Russian forum have same sort of confusion.
not a translation problem.
Problem is this forum. Mention a coce box and you see a 20 page discussion on witch float plane we will get. Because if the Coca Cola box is empty it floats and that must mean something.
But we are getting something new. And in that platform current planes will not work. That is what I get from this. Their lack of further explanations proves one thing, they are not sure where this is going

This.

I have a hard time believing Jason would've left stuff lingering like this if he was still around but it is what it is.  We've had multiple interviews/live streams (russian and English language) in the last few weeks and they still haven't bothered to answer basic questions, the same needlessly ambiguous  "something new"... "we're really excited now"... answers.  Which just leaves everyone guessing about what the team actually means.  Not the best way to inject customer confidence into whatever it is you actually do finally announce next.

Yeah normally a company would want to gen some real excitement over an upcoming product. Not sure they are doing that currently, yeah it has led to a lot of discussion and quite a bit of conjecture.

Been wanting this theatre since forever.  Fits all the clues more or less.

Only time will tell, but as long as everyone else is speculating, I guess I can too.

You could have a campaign running from December 1941 till the end of the war.  And if you were VERY ambitious, it could go from 1937 to the end of the war.  Also many multiplayer opportunities as well.

Spans the technological spectrum from the last of the biplanes right on up to the late Mustangs, Spitfires, and the IJAAF hotrods like the Ki 84.

Works for me.  Wondering if devs looking at manchuria?   Big Russian battles there.

Just to see how same things they are saying is so differant check DD and video stream ( from ~15-23min) where Han is reading same thing that is posted (first, secound...fifth part) in forum DD after video, you would not think that hes reading same things but its clearly same text lol

I still belive its language thing and they are not talking about new game, everything that is planed is planed for GB and its game engine.

Why are ppl on ru forum asking same questions, probably because they see its main topic here, i dont see many asking that question there, just few posts, and it started after international stream not after russian one, its not like here where whe have topics of several pages in few days.

It is painfully ambiguous, but I think they meant to say they were going to be improving this engine, not making a new one. It would be spectacularly stupid to abandon this game and start over, but then again it could just be called a special engine operation and be in line with the times so who knows. I would hope wardog would clarify here, I think jason would have done so instead of leaving us all confused.

I will certainly continue to support IL-2 as long as it remains one of my main points of interest for a hobby of mine.

However I will say so far they have not said anything that makes me want to rush for the opportunity to place an order for anything coming up.

Can't say I have ever felt that way for any of the subsequent releases for the original BOS. But they had a much clearer definition.

Really imho it would have been better for the Devs to say they were still working on what will be the next release and to stay tuned.

From the beginning " Where is Jason" thread all the way through the BON release thread and the latest DD thread it has really brought more questions than answers at least in my mind. And I am sure I am not the only one that noticed Jason's departure message had no kind words of support from anyone in !CGS or at least thanking him for all his support over the last several years. And in that long streamed message I do not recall anything being mentioned about him and his departure either. But I do admit I don't think I watched all of that one.

In any event I will keep an eye on the forums in hopes of one day soon seeing that official post that clarifies all of this regarding the title.

The idea that the perfect is the enemy of the good is one I have always supported. I've read and heard all about the work done on the planes in this sim, but I've not always FELT it. Without clickable cockpits to interact with every control (which to be fair I don't require, I'm perfectly happy with it as it is), I basically just have to take the "everything is modeled very closely and interconnectedly" claims as given...but would we even know? If you put wallpaper on the walls, they could be bare concrete, they could be brick, they could be cheap plaster...but you can't tell by looking at it. Why spend the time and money on brick?

If my reading between the lines that Jason had such high standards that it kept the team constrained from developing new ideas because they might be too rough is correct, then perhaps his departure will give Il-2 a chance to expand in new ways and reinvigorate the series. It could also mean we could get a bunch of half-baked features that aren't fully fleshed out before being abandoned or declared "good enough", it's not possible to say either way is more or less likely.

I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for now, they have earned that more than even the money I've spent on Il-2 over the last decade. If they believe whatever this next release is will lay the foundations for PTO in the one after, I support their efforts.

ok, but why make it wors for your self by not clearing out any missunderstandings that can hurt your chances at sale. Especialy if its something they have control over.

True. So it looks like it is something radical and they need time to prepare anoucment and seeing our discussion  helps to counter any doubts , why not please both parties.

I am anxiously waiting for a clearance from on high before posting anything. I'm even avoiding posting pics of more of my models in the off topic section to avoid having someone think that I'm leaving them hints about things that might have anything to do with IL-2's path forward.

We have some internal meetings going on to sync up how info will be posted on both the RU and ENG sides to avoid stuff getting dropped early or incomplete. And the schedule for that is still being worked out between engineering and my management. In summary, that means that nothing will be hinted at, shared, leaked or teased until it has been approved for posting. I like my job and prefer to keep it. ?

If it's a new game then It would be good to see what kind of features they are planning for launch.  Graphics and flight model aren't the top priority if the single player experience isn't great.

Hoping for improvements to AI, radio commands, career, more immersion.

I think the career mode we have now came with Kuban or around that timeframe.  It's still nowhere near the mighty PWCG.  I think it would be a lot to ask people to buy into the project to support future development/adding features again.  A bit worried about this but excited to see what's going to happen.

Funny thing about collector planes is (and this only applies to me--not saying you should follow suit), I won't say I'll never buy a certain one. Even if it doesn't interest me.

Over the years, I've picked up everything except for the P-40. And that's only because of engine timer issues.

Have I ever flown a Po-2 in career? No. Do I ever intend to? No. I fly it maybe once a year when the whim strikes me. But I do like having it available. That's how I feel about a lot of planes that are of marginal interest to me.

The bubble Spitfire is definitely very niche, and I have about a 2% interest in ever flying it, but, I'll probably get it anyway. It comes down to a question of a plane being worth a crappy one-topping delivery pizza (full price) or a cup of coffee (sale price). In most cases, I would say, yes, it's worth it. Even for once-a-year usage.

This is pretty much how I feel. I'll never give somebody else grief for not buying something they know they'll never use, but some of the planes I'm most glad to have bought are actually some of the ones I fly the least--like the Po-2 and Ju-52--just because they're so different. Another 109 variant will get way more miles in career mode, but there's nothing quite like motoring around at 100 km/h in the Po-2, enjoying the scenery, even if I only do it once in a while. And I find myself wishing for a Tiger Moth, Stearman, or Jungmann way more than a 109G-10, even though I know I'd fly the G-10 more.
