So wait the VR game he's showing while talking IS NOT the Microprose game? It's the Medal of Honor VR game that came out a couple years ago? Wow holy click bait indeed. Almost had me fooled. 

 

I'll wait and see until we see some actual game play footage from any of the Microprose games instead of just screenshots every couple months.

B-17 Flying Fortress was one of the best simulation for me. ALL the position was playable (pilot copilot radio gunners bomber navigator) and you managed your crew (position, injury, rank, reward and promotion), the manual was a real book and I really hope the new version will be in the same spirit with modern graphics and one day MP and VR… in waiting a Il2 Great Battles B-17 collector plane ….

I think a lot of these old games were better than what we have now, graphics aside, especially if you're more of an offline player like I am now.

I TOTALLY agree! I'm a frequent banger of drums when it comes to the older flight sims and their campaign modes. Games like Falcon 4.0, B17, they had such in-depth career modes, with Falcon 4.0 especially, you had a real dynamic career mode. B17, again, so many great little features that would be great in Il2, for instance, those little recon films you can view before the mission, a great touch, or the squadron management side, which I know wasn't that in-depth, but it added such a level of realism. I'm definitely going to download the new version.

From the looks on the steam page pics, it seems it has new(ish) grapics for the interiora, but the exteriors (3d models, world etc) are still the same.

The GUI has definitely been polished up a bit as well. Nice to see an old title like this get some love - I played this a lot when I was a student in college.

So, the GUI and aircraft interiors have been updated but the external model updates"may" come later in EA according to what I've said on their discord.  In it's current state, I won't be supporting it financially... we'll see what happens later in the year when more updates are hopefully made.

This is the only B-17 title from Microprose I was actually keeping an eye on and for it to be just the menus/2D campaign management + interior and crew models getting an upgrade is... Quite underwhelming. I wonder if anything whatsoever has even been done to the interior of the fighters? All those seem strangely absent from the trailer as well. I am quite disappointed, I knew right off the bat it wasn't going to be a new game but at the very least I expected some 3D exterior model revamps, maybe higher resolution terrain map (even if it is still just a glorified kindergarten city map rug over Western Europe)...

I'm not holding out hope for the whole "Early access" angle if I'm being perfectly honest. I'll buy it out of curiosity but if they haven't AT LEAST fixed the bug that made all the AI overheat their engines on the pattern and crash, then I'll be refunding and waiting until it's an actual product.

I think it’s because the reception when they released early access to some content creators was not very positive - re the external models having zero love mainly. Seems like they are addressing those-hence the delay.

The Falcon 4.0 career literally bankrupted the developer.  It’s probably the single most important reason why developers don’t do that sort of thing any more.

After watching this show I hope this leads to more bomber sims...

 

I'm now playing Bomber Crew again on my Switch in bed last night, the VR game looks awesome so far from Microprose. Even the CloD B-17 has my interest. Maybe Aces of Thunder in PSVR2 will have a bomber?

 

I think maybe an indie game that is Bomber Crew but skinned with realistic graphics could be a pretty cool game idea.

Is the Microsoft B-17 VR and when will it be released? Will I need a newer version of the Microsoft Flight simulator than available on Steam ? I hardly use this flight sim at all but if the B-17 comes out soon I’d like to buy it and try it out…
