CrazyhorseB34 Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 The best Soviet fighter was. P-39. Built in Buffalo, New York. How embarrassing, would it be? If Il-2 Sturmovik, don't complete the series? Next logical Great Battle. Bagration/Berlin. Thoughts? Same map. Whatever. You can't make a comment here. Without being attacked. 109. Rules. 1

Guest deleted@83466 Posted October 22, 2022 Posted October 22, 2022 Well, if he’s a sockpuppet of somebody else, he sure paid a lot of money to get those purchase badges. But still, something is quite fishy.

AEthelraedUnraed Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 (edited) I think we should all get back on topic. There are a couple ways in which one can interpret the question. In its simplest form, we should observe that June 6, 1944 is a date and hence was everywhere. But we must take note that it wasn't everywhere at the same time! Let's take the timezone map for 1944 (source? On the full-resolution map, we can see that the earliest June 6, 1944 took place in the Kingdom of Tonga, 12 hours, 19 minutes and 12 seconds ahead of GMT. The latest June 6, 1944 took place in Niue just east of that, 11 hours and 20 minutes behind GMT. The other possible answer is where in the universe it is currently June 6, 1944, given the finite speed of light (and hence time). Per Google, 28629 days have passed since June 6, 1944. That means June 6, 1944 is currently 28,629*24*3600s*299,792,458m/s = 78.3836043 lightyears away. In Solstation's list of "Notable Nearby Stars", this would make it approximately at the distance of HD156668, which isn't really visible but in the night sky would be located just northeast of the Sarin star of the Hercules constellation. So, I suppose, HD156668 is as good an answer to the "Where is June 6, 1944" question as any. Edited October 24, 2022 by AEthelraedUnraed 3 5 4

WIS-Redcoat Posted October 24, 2022 Posted October 24, 2022 (edited) Where is June 6, 1944? My colleague AEthelraedUnraed has attempted to answer that question cosmically, and I cannot but agree with what he has stated here. However, perhaps the philosophical consequences of knowing "Where June 6th, 1944" on the timeline of the Human Condition could be the question; albeit almost impossible for us to know at this given time. If we consider this timeline starting with earliest built constructions: underground edifices made from broken stalagmites by Neanderthals near 176,000 years ago, we cannot yet know where this date is? But more importantly, where do we think this date is? It is thought that the advent of Nuclear weapons has most likely set our end date in the comparatively short future. I would submit that June 6, 1944 may be one of the high tides of our twilight years. A parable perhaps of an old man watching a sunrise and smiling just a few days before his own death. It's so heavy that it's gravitational field pulls the air along with it. The P-47 probably stayed airborne for the same reason. 1 1
