Using Fanatec CSL Pedals as Rudder Pedals

Hi. I’m just wondering if anyone has had any luck using sim racing clutch and accelerator pedals as rudder pedals in IL2.
I’ve been trying for hours to get this to work with my Fanatec CSL pedals, but with no success. I’m using Vjoy and UCR and have set up a profile in UCR where the axes of the accelerator and clutch pedals are combined. Checking in Windows game controllers, it all seems to be working as it should. When I go to the key mapping bit in IL2 and press one of the pedals it is mapping to the CSL pedal rather than the Vjoy device which means that only one pedal is recognised. I suspect the problem is that IL2 is recognising the CSL pedals before the Vjoy device. I already own rudder pedals, but it is a pita changing between racing pedals and rudders depending on whether I am flying or racing.

 All working as expected. ?

So.

1 - You need hide the physical axes of Fanatec accelerator and clutch pedals, or they are pick first in controls assignment than the virtual mixed axes, since they are the ones that generate this axis. There's a software for do this... I think HIDGuardian. Or, more simple and easy:

2- Assign one side, eg. left pedal, close the game, go to game folder > Data> Input , locate and open the file "current.actions" and for Yaw command change the name of the axis there - the left pedal axis, by the name of virtual axes created. Voila! ?

Aha! Very clever. I’ll have a go at editing that file. I’ll let you know how I get on.

Thanks. Sokol1.  I got it working!  I needed to edit the file "gobal.actions" rather than "current.actions", but it is all working perfectly now.

Hi

It doesn't work for me with my csp v3 pedals on il2 COD...

VJoy looks fine but in game it keep to recognise my fanatec pedals. The problem is that I want to change in the confUser file the name of the axis used but where can I find the exact  name of the axis from vJoy ?

The name of the virtual axis created with pedals is the one you set in vJoy: X, Y... etc.

Problem with IL-2 COD (Cliffs of Dover) is the "code name" of the devices, like:

_VKB-Sim_Gladiator_-9708D54B+AXE_Z=1throttle

This means that axis Z of VKB-Sim Gladiator (joystick) is assigned to throttle.

I don't know how discovery what is the "-9708BD54B" code without assign the axis or button in game Controls GUI.

There are a few posts like this, but this is the most recent so I'll post my experience here ...

I had the same issue. Could only get one of my pedals to be recognised, despite mapping clutch/accelerator to a single axis. I am using UCR (https://github.com/snoothy/ucr/releases) and it shows a nice +/- movement from centre when I press the each pedal.

As stated in other posts here, IL-2 recognised my pedals before my vjoy controller, so it wasn't working correctly. So I went into devices.txt (in ...\IL-2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad\data\input) and changed the numbering of the controllers. I made the vjoy device number 0. That is the number that is reported in game under key bindings, e.g. joy0_axis_p. When I restarted, my controller (I don't have a stick) was no longer recognised, so I had to restart again and then reassign the pitch/roll controls with the controller. After that, it all worked.

For reference, in the current.actions file it is called joy0_axis_p (i.e. just like in the key bindings menu) but I can't see how you could know that without getting the game to recognise it first.
