IL2 VR HP Reverb G2 lock at 60FPS with RTX 4090

Greetings:

I need help troubleshooting my setup! I recently bought the Windforce rtx 4090 to replace the old 3080. I decided to do a complete reset of the system and install the new win11. I installed wmr and openxr and set up the PC the same way as my old setup and set up on steam vr ss 50%, just as I played before in my rtx 3080. to my surprise the G2 is locked at 60 FPS although it has set everything up to 90hz.

I7 10700K KrakenZ63; RTX 4090 windforce; 32gb; 4xDDR4 3600; samsung 970 pro m.2 ssd 1T; PSU NZXT 850 Gold, Displays LG 4k TV at 60Hz in a HDMI and Reverb g2 in the Display porte

I already disable the virtual monitors and holographic in the regedit, disabled xbox and game bar, disable vsync. re-install nvidea drivers, swaped GPU but the RTX 3080 is locked at 60Hz aswell.

Thanks

I will follow that topic instead. I hope they come up with a fix soon... ?

FWIW - Try setting it to 60 in the WMR Portal and then set it back to 90 after reboot.  That actually worked for me after updating to Windows 11.

I had the same problem and turning off vsync in the nvidia control panel IL2 section got me back to 90Hz..

oh, you people with a G2 and the 4090 . Let's not leave us hanging like this and write how IL2 runs?!

Sounds really fair.

Save your pc image with w11, install win10 and run the game and benchmark pls ❤️

I'm running the G2 on a 4090 with a 5800x - it's great. 90fps at 2800x2800 (approx) on Ultra easy. There are moments when it drops down to reprojection territory, almost all of that is CPU as far as I can tell - definite improvement over the 3090 which I had for a couple of weeks.

When I upgrade the CPU/mobo, which I'll probably do in about a year to a 7700x3d, we'll see if the periodic dips disappear completely.

I fixed wih the Beta driver from nvidea.

I am running a I10700k rtx4090 on ultra, but with steamvr ss at 70% and reduced draw distance to 100; no mirrors, grass and terrain  low, distant buildings x2, canopy reflectiond off; MSAA; filter to Blurred.

I hvnt tested other settings yet. I hv good 90 fps now, sometimes it drops below 75 during combat with alot of planes

I am probably cpu bond now...

Doing some testing with FPSvr I can confirm that most if not all of the reprojection I was experiencing at 3000x3000 SS with the G2 (or thereabouts) was related to distant objects being loaded sporadically and causing spikes in CPU frametime.

Right now I'm running balanced preset (solely because it will not attempt to load distant objects as readily) at 100% super sampling (around 3kx3k, I don't remember exactly) with ultra shadows, ultra clouds, HDR, SSAO, Sharpening, 4K textures, and all the other bells and whistles with the exception of distant object detail which is set to 'normal' (this is the culprit for CPU frametime spikes which in turn put me in repro territory), and FXAA instead of MSAA. MSAA at 8x will bring this card to it's knees at any acceptable resolution.

The card will push 90fps very happily at these settings. It will still go intro repro, especially in multiplayer, which is 100% the fault of the CPU. If a 7700x3d helps with that (which it probably won't), I can probably go up to ultra settings and still maintain a solid 90fps at 3kx3k without any issues.

You should try 250%-350% super sampling with 2xMSAA. FXAA is a blur filter, though while smoothing jaggies, makes things mushy.  This card has the grunt to push *very* high super sampling which doesn't need antialiasing, but for some reason it's easier to spot with MSAA 2x.

You can also force repro off in steam or windows, and as long as you stay over 80fps it's not noticeable. I find the transition to motion smoothing/vectoring way more jarring than just an occasional stutter

Do you know openComposite and the openXr tool?
Even if you only use it to eleminate Steam VR.... it will help immensely

I know it's a thing, and I've heard it helps - I'll mess around with it when I have time. I just built a simrig with a bunch of tactile transducers and a custom amp which was a ton of work so I'm just chilling and enjoying what I have for now.

Edit: I will post pics of the simpit/tacile system and a breakdown at some point for those who are interested.
