Muddy Posted October 15, 2022 Posted October 15, 2022 Long time player that’s been gone to Great Battles for a while but always played vanilla installs , mo mods. I am returning to 1946 and want to know which is best for pacific only, SAS or HSFX. Your thoughts.?
=VARP=Dragunov Posted October 19, 2022 Posted October 19, 2022 (edited) If you are offline player then BAT. Beautiful maps, lots of new ships, airplanes and mods. Put Reshade in - or Graphic extender (if you have newest PC). For online fights, HSFX. SEOW Pacific campaign is about to start: https://streamable.com/jd18hh https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1QEAD3Pfy0liNobNOg63AXQgdxalwh6nlP8XJgux5A-o/edit#slide=id.g15e11e32156_1_11 Edited October 19, 2022 by =VARP=Dragunov
Patricks Posted October 21, 2022 Posted October 21, 2022 You can easily do multiple installs also, one with HFSX 7.x and one with BAT 4.x! One obstacle in this point in time is if you have more than 4 Game controller devices ( I had 7), they won't be seen correctly until you unplug some. You also need to install the Beta 4.12.2 version to use HSFX (Steam Beta tab, leave Access Code blank, not needed), initial install will be 4.13.4m. If it works you will see Il-2 Sturmovik 1946 4_12_2 in your Steam library..
Feldgrun Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 I see Fishyyy uses Ypack 1.2.3 for some of his excellent 4-engine bomber killer (viermottöter) missions. The internet, the source of all truth (LOL), says BAT has more planes, but Ypack has better quality. Not sure, as I haven't tried either. 1
SAS_Storebror Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 Online players might want to take a look at Ultrapack. It's the ugly little sister of BAT: No fancy supersonic jets, no WW1 stuff, but all you find in there is carefully optimized for a great online experience, including the full fledged famous Zuti Moving Dogfight Server (MDS). Don't get fooled by the stock game version requirement (IL-2 4.10.1 forms the base here): Ultrapack has many features of later stock versions implemented, including 4.15's AI, Java 8 and other little things.
